Based on the reviews and the comments, I am apparently continually missing all the recurring jokes/callbacks in this show. Maybe I should rewatch some old episodes.

Once again Shameless tries to be political and totally fails. It’s impossible to take the family separations subplot seriously when there are jokes like a dozen guys all being named Jose Gomez, having nephews named Santiago, and being illegal immigrants.

Fiona asking Vee who the kid in the bar was last episode was especially egregious on the “aren’t they best friends?” front. Shouldn’t she know Vee and Kev were adopting a kid, and that he’s 12 years old, and that they were bringing him home that day?

This one was a B for me. The more this show repeats the Eternal Sunshine-esque Eleanor-and-Chidi-fall-in-love-then-lose-their-memories-then-find-their-way-back-to-each-other arc, the less emotionally invested I am. Bringing Simone back reminded me that I actually liked Chidi and Simone together a lot, and while I

I actually preferred the first half of this episode, when it plays as a pretty straightforward indie rom-com. I was content to just separate it from Jimmy and Gretchen entirely. Once the second half tried to make it a story about Jimmy and Gretchen (and when they replaced the characters in the fantasy scenes), I

Came here to comment this. Last Flag Flying was solid, and Carell was one of the best things about it.

Ugh, I always confuse those two characters from name alone, for some reason. Same thing happened when I read the book.

Book stuff: interesting to see how this episode ends almost as if more of the show is going to focus on who really murdered Don Achille - I doubt it will, but the ending scene of this ep still made it feel like it would. If I remember correctly from the book, isn’t it pretty much the end of it once Donato goes off to

I liked her in Magic Mike XXL.

I love Heather and Hector together and would never want them to break up, but did anybody else feel like there was a little enemies-to-lovers-style sexual chemistry between Heather and Nathaniel? When they were standing next to each other outside it just occurred to me they’d be a very hot couple.

Yeah, it does.

Agreed that this is the best one since the horror anthology, except I think the penultimate episode last year (the big Black Hood reveal and face-off) was at the same level.

This episode made me ecstatic. It was just so perfect, and it managed to heavily parallel The Breakfast Club while doing its own thing and weaving the actual characters’ backstories into it.

And Black Lightning! It’s not quite the same since she’s a main character from the beginning, but it’s cool that three of the titular characters have queer kids.

This is so fucking dumb.

I thought this was the best one of the season so far. Everything felt ridiculous in the exact right way.

Hell yeah, this had everything I love about The Good Place. Hilarious Jason one-liners, William Jackson Harper going bat-shit crazy, Eleanor being both snarky/bullying and ultimately really kind, and plot moving super fast. I thought the whole episode was going to be Michael coming up with different lies to try to

When they first mentioned Hot Dog I didn’t realize he was a dog, and I thought, There’s a Serpent named Hot Dog? I’m so glad this show is back.

Thought this was marginally better than the past couple episodes, maybe because there was a little more family interaction(?), but yeah, it was still bad.
