I felt that way with Great Expectations. It took me forever to get into it (like a year because I kept putting it down and going back to it) but once I did I flew through it and loved it so much!

I find recipes for things like that very useful. I grew up with a mom who didn't like to cook, in a vegetarian house, and kept kosher for a long time.
