Once I went to non-POC co-worker’s home who lived in Coxsackie,  the family had a beautiful chocolate Lab who took to me instantly. My co-worker’s mother commented, “She likes you because you are the same color, so you’re her friend.” So there’s that. 

Sounds pretty American-like to me.

I work in tourism in a place that most visitors assume there aren’t any Black folks. I get a lot of “where are YOU from?” “Here” tends to throw white folks. So they keep asking questions to try to prove or find something. Like the old bint here. But there’s nothing to “find” or “prove.”
