Jesus fucking christ. My ‘96 Tacoma has fucking bluetooth. Spend the $150 and watch the fucking YouTube on how to install it. Or if you don’t live on an engineer’s salary like I do, spend $75 and buy a 6 pack for your redneck neighbor to fucking install it.

Sawyer Permethrin: I love this stuff. You can treat clothing, tents, hammocks, whatever you take outdoors. It lasts a few washes, is safe for animals when dry (don’t spray it on a cat), and best part is it doesn’t smell. http://goo.gl/QNXHqB

Personally I prefer my Kriega US-20. Less dorky, more useful. A topbox is only one size, so it's always there. The Kriega bag is big when filled, small when empty, can be used to tie stuff down under it, like a bag of dog food, or a power tool you borrow from your coworker. It's also modular if you have other Kriega

Not to be sexist butttttt I feel like there was one small group of riders that was left out of this....

I need to make a video titled “California Drivers Being Too Nice to Motorcyclists”. It’d just be a compilation of drivers in the carpool lane moving over to let me split, but I’m already going 70. Or cars at a stoplight giving me space to filter to the front. Or letting me skip in front of them at a full gas station

This car is definitely not a reliable commuter. My boss had a 2013, 1.4T, manual. I think the clutch cylinders failed 3 or 4 times, borderline lemonning the car. The passenger visor clip broke. A hose connection on the cooling system broke and the Dodge replacement part was the whole hose assembly because the

I meeeeean the other reason I don’t do cocaine is the period of deep depression that follows. Kind of like if I did get to ride a bike like this, getting back on my SV650 might not be as fun as before. Ignorance is indeed bliss, just as much as financial stability is.

No doubt. All I’m asking is to remind people every so often that it doesn’t take a lot of money to ride. And that you shouldn’t go bankrupt trying to get the newest, greatest motorcycle. It’s just my personal preference. I like David’s articles more because they teach people to be self sufficient, work on your own

Right, my only hope is they make it for bunches of years, unchanged. I’d pick an AT up in 10 years when the market is flooding with parts.

In California, all bikes are fun. But specifically, I have a 2nd gen SV650 that I picked up for $1800. I also have a plated YZ426 and an XR650 that were each a grand. My SV is my daily driver, I’ve put about 7k miles on it each year, and the other two are just fun to ride and wrench on.

Full disclosure: I’m an engineer who hates to spend more than $2k for a bike. Do a review on a $2k bike and I’ll read the whole thing. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s that I don’t do cocaine because it’s too expensive.

I like Sean’s posts but I tend to just skim them and mostly just look at the pictures. I read every word of this. Great article.

For $300 I got a Bell Vortex (Snell and DOT) and a Transitions shield. I highly recommend the combo.

I’ll pay my share to be Steph’s partner. Female, mechanical engineer, off road enthusiast as well as backpacker, motorcyclist, dirt biker. I’d be down.

Fun fact, the SV650 has continued to be sold in Canada (maybe other places too?), same configuration as the 2007 models, whose only change from the 2003-2006 models was the addition of a spark plug per cylinder.

Well I have a Sena 10C which already has a microphone, speakers, and a controller. Add another microphone to the controller housing and you’re pretty set to go, imo. I think this could easily be adapted to their other products, but I also don’t know very much about noise cancellation.

Alright, you win. I was initially thinking it’d compete with the GSX-S1000 line, and the BMW S1000, but ya, they’d have to move that torque curve.

I was really hoping this was going to be a naked version of the R1.

By far, my favorite brand for women’s gear is Rev’it because I’ve never seen a pink lacy or bedazzled piece from them. Their women’s gear is cut for a woman, can look feminine, and not have to be all “LOOK AT ME! I’M A GIRL ON A BIKE!”.

I mean, I don’t disagree. I, too, am a fan of cheap bikes on CL. I picked up a fuel injected SV650 for $1800 and a California street legal YZ426 for $1000. That being said, I’m tempted by this Africa Twin. It’s a modern adventure bike with off road promise, meaning hopefully it’s a good combo of my two bikes, comfy on
