That’s a pretty terrible comparison. “You can get an F800GS for $10k on CL” would be the better argument. And for that reason, you can see why the Africa Twin looks good.

I like the stares I get when I shop at Costco with my helmet still on.
They’re putting a new engine in the 2016, going from a 4.0L V6 to a 3.5L V6 with port and direct injection (which they say is more fuel efficient and more powerful than any other Tacoma). Other than that, there are some traction control features on the new one, but overall, you are correct. It’s just a facelift on the…
Every year I fly home to see my family and inevitably get stuck with my dad’s scooter as my only vehicular option...needless to say I’ve locked up the rear tire a few times thinking the rear brake lever was the clutch... At least on the Brammo it won’t do anything and will be far less embarrassing.
I know no one will hear me at this point but I’d like to see just one article or mention somewhere of Hit Air airbag vests and jackets. What do I wear? Every single day: helmet with Sena 10C camera, jacket with hard back protector, air bag vest, gauntlet gloves, overpants, and full race boots. I rode for about 3 years…
Ya I don’t understand why someone would buy an Arai over a Shoei, unless their head fits dramatically better in an Arai. I agree that most people would be fine in a lower priced helmet like HJC but will see better build quality and less wind noise in something like a Shoei. Butying an Arai just seems like buying Beats…
Yup, right there with you. My SV was $1800 which is not bad for a fuel injected bike. And the 58,000 miles it came with didn’t worry me a bit. It’s up to 74k right now and still no worries.
Aftermarket seat heaters aren’t that expensive and easy to install or have installed. No one would know they’re not OEM. At least that’s what I remember when I looked into after buying my 2013. But I don’t live near snow and eventually decided I didn’t want them all that bad.
What made you choose to buy a Tacoma now? Why didn’t you want to wait? I’m genuinely curious because it looks like Toyota is still killing it with Tacoma sales, but with the new one around the corner, why would you be compelled to buy now and not just wait?
Ya, I love the lavender as well. Works great for me.

Why not go get the track version of the Hit Air vest?
What I don’t like about the study is you can replace “lanesplitting motorcyclists” with “commuting motorcyclists” and it’d be the same study with the same conclusions about safety. People who commute are safer because they tend to be sober and they tend to care more about gear choices since they spend more of the time…
This needs to be the top comment.
The reason I decided to start on an SV is because I’d rather accelerate out of trouble than decelerate.
Right, but are the fancy electronics worth it? Is forgetting to charge something worse than forgetting to snap to your tether? I think so. If I forget to tether, which happens maybe 3 times a year, I can do it on the fly or pull to the side of the road for a second and snap it in. To me, it’s the same debate that’s…
Just once, can it be mentioned in an article on this topic that this ALREADY EXISTS!? I’ve been wearing a Hit Air vest for over 2 years, every single ride. Not only that, my vest will be much better at preventing the neck-breaking whiplash that Alpinestars put their test dummy through. I’ll I’m asking for is something…
I had an engineering professor who I remember told us he blocked off a cylinder on the side of the road while driving through Mexico with a friend, turned a V8 into a V7. The founder of iFixit also had him as a professor and wrote this little homage to the adventure.
I think there were 4 guys with bikes. I was the driver of the girlfriends and one guy who had dropped his bike, breaking the clutch lever. We picked him up and continued to the cabin where we were meeting the other bikers for lunch and beers. On trips like that, I like being the party van and support vehicle as well…
I've put plenty of motorcycles in my short bed. You're gonna need a better argument. If I can carry 5 people, a dirt bike, and a cooler, down a gnarly Jeep trail (Dove Springs to McIver Cabin), what else do you need it to do? I've also put my SV650 in it more times than I'd like.
I see a moon roof and proximity sensors, two options you can't currently get on the Tacoma. Also they moved the wire harness for towing as well as went to the Tundra back up camera, which is less likely to get damaged.
