My kids still know the sound of a CRT TV. Yup, two WiiMotes + two LCD TVs = we now have CRT Tv's. Gigantic Sony tube HDTV's, in fact, that weigh as much as I do. Wiimotes bounce off those bitches.

You have to follow the profit, and also even though they have a jaw-dropping R&D budget - remember, this is Apple. They have a obsession to do everything perfect, or at least brilliantly well with some mis-steps along the way.
Well it is a good sign of things to come. I mean it's been some time since a Mac laptop had a native display output, the last I had was my old Al PowerBook G4 with DVI-out, and I believe some early Intels had it. Regardless, it's a nice addition - and a big one for pros who may want to run a bunch of Thunderbolt…
Bingo. You can of course go DisplayPort to HDMI via an adapter (yay for Monoprice.com!) but if you're like me, you will have a dozen adapters and not remember where any are. Onboard HDMI would be a huge boon for me, frankly, but not enough to ditch my almost new MBP for a new-new one.
I'm reserving judgement on it, I'll concede, but I'm not hopeful. For my mobile working I bought a new MBP this January and gave the glossy model a chance - two of them, in fact - until finally not being able to stand it and getting a matte. Yes I made full use of Apple's 30 day return policy. :)
I really love where Apple is taking this, and after getting over my initial annoyance of a lack of a Matte Retina Display option - I'm cool. It will be there if pros demand it, which I'm sure they will.
What's the color gamut of your M4500? Battery life?
Please read again what I typed. Then re-read it. One final time for clarity.
Bingo! Also something to be considered is application support. For me, I ended up saving a significant amount because I finally had enough of Premiere Pro and switched to FCPx. My purchase of FCPx was 1/5th the cost that my upgrade from CS4 to CS6 would have been (Master Collection, which is a bit of a item of note…
The 8460p does not compare to the MBP, sorry. You'd have to move up to the 8460w to begin a comparison.
I paid nearly that for my current MBP, so I could see it. When you are comparing high-end laptops, that's not so much of a stretch.
Hear hear. My MBP is the current highest-spec 15in model not for bragging, but because when I'm working with 1080p files in FCPx and RAW images in Aperture/Lightroom/Photoshop AND having 3-4 VM's running - I need power. I paid for the fastest i7 available because 30 seconds off a render is 30 seconds off a render. …
Add me to the "I don't get the fuss" crew. I mean, I just bought a loaded out 15in Pro in January and it's a fantastic machine. I knew it was likely that they'd get a spec bump and or redesign, but after testing several I didn't care - that antiglare option on the 15in is to die for. Seriously. They just need to…
I'll jump in on the K9 Mail party. I recently discovered it after using the stock Android client for a rather long time, and well, I'm rather impressed! Great for IMAP and POP accounts.
I've been a Soma FM listener for just about forever, off and on of course, once I discovered it via iTunes. Sure I use Pandora, Rdio, and my own music collection but consistently I can just throw on Soma and jam out.
#COTD Also watch the previous episode, the replica Shelby Cobra. It made my heart sing.
When I was in high school, there was a priest who drove a ex-cop SSP Mustang LX that had Flowmasters. I thought that was pretty cool. Then my good friend started talking to that priest and it seemed he had a deep dark secret stowed away.
I would pay that for it if it had dual mini displayport or HDMI outputs. I mean seriously, is it that hard to get a thunderbolt to dual monitor cable/adapter built?
Depends on the day, but generally decent enough usage. Usage is mostly email, text, and phone calls - very little browser or app usage.
Hella dig it. I have my own office, and have had for the past 10 years but I also have a cubicle in our helpdesk area for when the helpdesk needs extra hands. I actually have found that I work better in spaces with other folks to throw ideas off of instead of cooped up in an office. For a good four months straight…
