I've been in IT for over 13 years with a Fortune 500. I have to disagree on a couple of your points. First, the laptop... I haven't used a DVD drive in my laptop since 2009. This isn't necessary. I'm surprised it wasn't brought up yet; I'm a web and app developer and I carry both an iOS and android phone for work. Not because I need two phones to contact people; but because we test our sites on multiple platforms and that includes both iOS and android.
