While the actors look good... the plot just sounds thoroughly cliche, and in some ways a watered down retelling of WWII. I'll hold final judgement... I know the book is beloved.
The Australian-German film "Lore" seemed a much more interesting presentation of life for German children during the horrors of war.
To be fair- Italy's legal system made such a horrifying mess of this that it is shaking to the confidence of many people. Of course this case alone shouldn't stop you from travelling- but it's not exactly great for the reputation of Italy for good reason.
Awesome for the court to stand behind this protection, as they obviously should.
For sure, it's not the whole picture, but I think the little bits of activity definitely add up. I lived in NYC for a few years before Berlin, and even that I thought had a far more walking in everyday life than my small Canadian hometown.
I think the difference in car culture is probably a big factor. I live in Berlin, and people seem to walk everywhere- also my building has no elevator so everyone had to hike up and down.
