Not Asian myself – but as an immigrant (to Europe) I think in Western Europe at least you’ll be fine, especially from a law enforcement perspective. Some countries will have more strict enforcement of driving laws – i.e. Germany, Switzerland, Scandinavian countries, so for these places make sure you follow the rules

To be fair, one also sees this on LinkedIn. I’m rarely on it – but still always surprised to see news articles posted by public figures/large organizations, and then underneath people spouting trolling nonsense or conspiracy-theories using their real names business titles.

I’m not sure if these old guys don’t

Pedestrians are BORROWING the right of passage”

And why isn’t the car borrowing the right of passage from the pedestrians? Why aren’t cars drivers just taking more time to make sure the way is clear? If you’re at a crosswalk in your car– slow down and really check?

Yeah of course – having the right of way doesn’t

The camera man of that movie was such a hero. Marathon-quality physical and mental performance in ensuring he can get all the shots, frame them well, and also not show up in reflections, mirrors, or shadows.

I think there are longer one-shot take “movies” (more like art films) like the 24h movie of the Empire State

Her dream is to obtain her Master’s degree in Germany, and she needs at least $15,000 in order to start the admissions process.

Ehhhh... I mean in the grand scheme of things, it’s pretty middle-tier. I’m from outside the United States, and while of course I know of the UC system and the more famous UCLA and UC Berkeley, I never heard about USC until this scandal.

I’m sure it’s a fine school with good technical rankings (whatever that means),

I mean American training is a joke compared to Europe. To be a police officer in Berlin takes 2 years at the academy, and then you’re a rookie. How long is the NYPD academy is 6 months?

Big positive benefit of the EU’s GDPR rules is that recruiters need your permission to retain any data on you. They can find your info publicly and reach out to you, but they’re not allowed to scrape it from one service and then trade it/carry it around indefinitely. Also you can email them and say “I want a copy of

Yeah, it’s pretty rough...

I went to an American arts school, and basically observed that the crazy tuition prices mean that even with student loans +rare substantial-scholarship students, the art schools for design/animation/fine arts skew middle/upper-class. The additional set-back is that if you’re serious about

To be honest, they’re also super, super nice to people who wander into their offices trying to get service, but don’t speak the language. Back in my early immigrant days I was definitely super annoying and helpless, but no one ever told me to “get out”, or expressed frustration at my language skills. People always

Germany is literally getting more tolerant, and more friendly to foreigners.

Not even 10 years ago it was pretty difficult even get government or banking service in Berlin, in any language that isn’t German. Now they offer services in a variety of languages, they have more bilingual workers, and you see signage posted

I mean, I recall in the UK that during a recent contentious medical case, where the parents wanted a surgery and the doctors felt it was doomed to fail.

The child in this case has an independently appointed representative to look out for their rights (i.e. neither on the parents side, nor the doctors side). That

NAL, my guess would be they cannot. But from a moral standpoint, that kid had two months of agony. All of it would have been preventable if not for the personal views of the parents.

If children can be forced to receive medical care despite the wishes of their parents (i.e. Jehova’s Witnesses children receiving blood

The Tetanus one is pretty serious – doc strongly recommended it be updated, and it lapses every 10 years, so it’s easy to forget.

Would be a really awful to get, from a fall on a bike, or a scrape while hiking or something.

They put new posters up in Germany advertising his tour here. I guess they already paid the money to have it all printed and such...

But even if this recent incident didn’t happen, how would someone on probation get past customs in the first place? :/

An exchange student from Denmark told me they thought of Canada Goose as “drug dealer jackets.”

Status symbol, and keeps you warm while standing on a street corner all day selling drugs.

Yeah it’s pretty impressive. I had some Indian and Singaporean coworkers who spoke an whole variety of languages.

I agree with you on some points, but disagree on others....

While it is useful for international business people to speak English, I think you’re really overestimating how many people that actually involves. The vast, vast, majority of people are spending all their time working in their home business markets, or

I heard a bad joke once:

“If someone who speaks two languages is bilingual, and some who speaks three languages is trilingual, then what do you call someone who speaks one language?”

An American.”

Heck, EU highschool are supposed to (i.e. it’s a common framework, but depends on country) to speak their home language,

The argument I’ve heard made, is that some Nordic countries have high social cohesion and also low immigration, which supposedly justifies low immigration. At it’s best... its an argument about social integration, but really it seems like an appeal for white ethnic states. :(

The U.S. has low social cohesion, btw.
