A Bryan Goldberg machine is a device designed to perform a simple task incorrectly.
Well, why is that mother malnourished? Could “protecting, promoting, and supporting” breastfeeding include improving her health? If she’s malnourished because she’s incredibly poor, how is she paying for formula. If she’s in an impoverished area (especially outside the US, but let’s not exclude Flint, Michigan…
That’s pretty much the reaction from Germans as well. Our Secretary of the Interior, Horst Seehofer, is anxious to not let his party, the CSU, lose any votes to the far-right extremist AfD party in the next Bavarian election (where he’s been the Head of State before his current job), so he made asylum seekers the BIG…

It is incomprehensible to me how the right wing in the US has managed to make working-class people vote against the labor movement. I will never get this.

Why do these articles continue to refer to him as “Dr. Luke”? He’s not actually a doctor and I see no reason to refer to him as his chosen name.

First of all, the screenplay was adapted while only the first book existed and the other two were not yet written (Source, about halfway down).
Amen. I’m fairly certain my one would wear a hole in the carpet pacing between food dish and window. The other one may actually do something besides move from bed to bed throughout the day.
Man, I love my dogs :)
Wow, the last place I’d expect this story from is Florida.
I love my dog to death, but a tiny part of me wants to see how she would act on coke.
This shocking development will destroy the reputation of dog racing as a wholesome, family-friendly activity. Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?SMH.
My personal favorite was:
I know, right? Mädchen, iirc, comes from a gender-neutral ancestor word for child, but it really is kind of icky that it’s stuck around for so long. It’s always weirded me out too.
I quite agree with your idea that it is so rampant because of our rigid linguistic system. I haven’t seen a ton of transphobia first hand,weirdly/luckily enough, but just the other day a colleague was waxing outraged that Trudeau was all in for the third gender, how dare he, this will cause all sorts of rampant sexual…
Quite interesting, but probably won’t become really mainstream here. People are already throwing hissy fits over things like “Lehrer/Innen” or making a distinction between “trans” and “cis” because apparently trying to be more inclusive when it comes to gender means being a crazy feminazi who is trying to destroy the…
Good question, and I’m not 100% sure about this. The 3rd gender will be referred to as “divers” or “inter” (so “diverse” or “in-between”), and it was an intersex person who went to court over this, so it seems to mostly be for people who are biologically neither strictly male nor female.
German is a grammatically gendered language. So yes, they have feminine/masculine designations for words.
