Yeah, I think our issue is mostly semantic. For example what I meant as niche wasn’t that they weren’t popular, but rather that they weren’t traditional mainstream titles.

If the movie gets cancelled, it’s probably Jason’s fault.
Btw, I didn’t compare Metroid’s numbers with Pokemon, because that’s definitely unfair. Pokemon was lightning in a bottle and that success is extremely hard to replicate if not impossible.
I’m sorry and please understand that I by no means dislike Metroid or want to insult you, but in my opinion, this data doesn’t help your argument. On the contrary, it kind of shows how lackluster Metroid’s numbers are.
That it will be fine at some point doesn’t excuse it’s current state. People didn’t purchase it because it will be fine someday, they purchase it because they wanna play it today and you have a product that’s crashing on startup for a lot of people.
Sadly that’s not true. Metroid has never been one of their big franchises. Even what most consider the best Metroid (Super Metroid) didn’t sell well due to timing. At this point their biggest franchises are something like:
While I myself don’t hate the game, I can’t say I enjoyed Blast Ball. It felt like a clunkier Rocket League.
Oh yeah, I think we need to evaluate the gameplay itself in order to determine whether it’s a good purchase or not.
Sorry to hear that :(
Sadly, that seems to be the case haha.
I been saying for a while that this game is a niche title that somehow ended up being aimed at a mainstream audience. This is what I believe is the core of the issues.
Oh yeah, definitely. It’s a good option if all you want is to play the game. That said, you might want to wait on getting a PS4 too, as Neo is right around the corner and at the very least, that could mean a price drop for the current PS4.
My impression up until this point is the following: This is a niche title that somehow has been effectively marketed towards a mainstream audience.
You know what? I bet that in some way, this is Jason’s fault.
Nah don’t worry. I doubt the specs will be increased. This is simply a case of poor optimization. When you have cards like the GTX 1080 barely able to reach 60fps, the problem is not the hardware but the software.
Absolutely. And on another point I understand that they are or rather were an indie studio, so this was a huge undertaking that was bound to have a lot of issues. That said, it still puzzles me whenever Sean says something like “We have more players than we imagined.”
Indeed. It’s truly a shame, because this is definitely the type of game that would benefit from beefier cpus, ram and gpus.
Apparently this might be even worse than AK. I remember getting the GTX 970 just for AK (luckily the card itself came with AK and the superior Witcher 3). Yet with a i7-3370K and the 970 I barely managed to get 45fps. Despite that, I was still able to play the game and I even finished it.
Sorry to hear that. For what it’s worth, I hope you can get to play it soon.
This reminds me of how much I used to annoy my friends whenever I tried to fix my modded Skyrim.
