monday tesla was threatening to “disable” flipped cars. Today GM is talking about nuking the warranty.  Automakers don’t want you to buy a used car they are trying to force you into a brand new car.

it doesn’t matter what the “goal” is. The behavior of limiting warranties for any reason should be rebuked.  You can’t say something is okay just because it targets a group or person you do not like.

SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK! THANK YOU THIS GUY GETS IT!!!

Remember the first generation Venza? Toyota called/marketed it as a station wagon and it flopped hard. People don’t want to drive a station wagon. But if you convince them it’s a crossover people will flock to it! Just look at the subaru outback as a prime example. Or even the hyundai Kona or the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

the crown is not a crossover it has the same ground clearance as a camry. They just gave it 22 inch wheels and styled the body to resemble more of a crossover.

No. the rules should be the same no matter what car it is. Also first it will be the specialty vehicles to test the waters, then it will be ALL of their vehicles.  The only way to get rid of flipping is to produce more vehicles.

15-20k ish really depends on the interest rate.  i would be looking for a used civic hatch turbo with a stick. Probably wont find one. Would probably just get another prius and continue to save on gas but ive been eying minivans lately. I saw a 2021 chrylser pacifica limited at a dealership for 24k with low miles i

I think that is what gm is hoping for that nobody will challenge them on this.

This doesn’t punish the flipper. This punishes the second owner who is left holding the bag.

This is insane. A vehicle warranty should still be honored no matter how many times the car is sold in the warranty period. If this is allowed automakers will eventually make the  whole warranty non transferable!

nothing wrong with an entry level new car. Some people Can NOT miss work.  “my car is in the shop” is not a reasonable excuse. So you drive the entry level car for 4-5 years. Pay it off and trade it in for something nicer after your income/credit gets better. We all start somewhere.

i still get 44mpg driving 80mph in my prius.

This almost wouldn’t be news if “regular cars” were not holding their value so well right now. It was fairly common for S class mercedes to tank over 30% of their value in the first year not long ago. Yeah it sucks when prices go down after you buy something but hey you are an adult and agreed to the terms of the deal

probably?

explorer has identical fuel economy with 400hp. Large 3 row rear wheel drive crossover.  bmw x7 is even bigger and gets better fuel economy!

yeah for 50k you can get 400 horsepower from the explorer ST and if you want more “luxury” you can get the lincoln aviator.

I would only imagine this happening in the most extreme scenarios like you are going up the steepest mountain in america and at the maximum towing capacity. If you have to floor it to tow something you are towing too much. 130kw is still a LOT of electricity

Am i the only one that thinks 280 horsepower is SUPER low for a 3.3 Liter turbo inline six cylinder engine?? Also to get 340 horsepower you have to spend $10,000 to get the 340 horsepower engine. and by that point you are over $50,000 and that is just .. uncompetitive ... Did mazda have to derate their engine THAT

would this be completely moot if your car got 400 miles on one gallon of electricity? how many gallons of electricity does a tesla hold? 2??
