well if you are going to lose 1/4 of your range in extreme heat and 1/3 of your range in extreme cold maximum range matters. also if it takes 30 minutes plus to top off the (elctricity?) tank you better be able to drive for at least 6 hours without stopping.

sure but what if the range on the performance evs are dogshit so now you need the exotic wheels  to claw back some efficiency. 

Exactly, consumers refuse to drive with reasonable sized wheels but still expect to get better efficiency somehow. Instead of driving on 17inch or 18inch wheels like a poor person they want 22 inch wheels but still expect 400 miles of ev range of 40mpg or however they are tracking efficiency now. 

Ev shoppers are mainly competing on range numbers, if spending an extra $2500 on a set of wheels will let you claim 30 miles more range on a full charge manufacturers are highly incentivized to do so.  

My take is that this is not for any real performance benefit its just a marketing checkbox and something they can charge more money for. Fords ceo had every intention of putting dealerships in their place last year but he had no idea who he was messing with. Ford is powerless to ditch their dealership model and has almost zero control over them. The ceo is changing his tune this year and is on this pro dealership apology tour.. its sad.

comparing everyone’s car payment is irrelevant because it is mostly dependant on the purchase price interest rate and your down payment. My car payment is only 200 a month but i had a lot to put down and my interest rate is only 4 percent (purchased in 2021 2014 toyota prius) 

H&R springs has a lowering kit to lower your F pace 1.5 inches for $350. and if you don’t think one and a half inches makes a difference just ask your wife!
