Vw broke the law. This is not a personal attack on owners who bought diesel cars from vw. After what they did the roof should be “on fire.” I always wondered how vw could pay all these fines and just move on like nothing happened. It took 7 years but its finally catching up to them!

Gee if only volkswagen did not massively break laws and harm the environment they would have 33 billion more dollars in their war chest to spend on R&D and weather the transition from ICE to EV.

Not really lazyness most people have little to zero savings so they couldn’t afford a few weeks at a hotel to find a job. Next it is hard to get housing if you have not been at your job long. Also moving all your stuff is expensive and starting all the way over is even more expensive. 

30 grand on a truck you only drive a few times a year ?? Nah man what you need is a mitsubishi montero. you can find them in nice shape between 7,000 and 13,000.  This will go just about anywhere you want to go offroad and it’s a mitsubishi so you wont have to worry about anyone stealing it. 

to be fair the base model wrangler is overkill for what the majority of people consider “off roading” So while the gladiator may only be 85% or 90% as good as the wrangler it will go further than most owners bravery levels.

So you want to charge oppressive tax just to change behavior? That’s fucked up. The purpose of taxes is to fund public services not to control people.   Gas taxes are used to fund the roads if the roads aren’t getting enough funding they raise the gas taxes.

I think you might be fancy and have unrealistic standards. the GTI is great, especially for the money. Sure you could spend a little bit more cash and buy a WRX or a mustang but if that’s all you can afford it’s hard to do better than a GTI for most enthusiasts.

Wranglers are okay it’s just the owners who drive them that is the problem. They will drive wranglers like they are sports cars driving 80+ mph on 37 inch tires on a county highway.  Or speeding through traffic. If people drove wranglers like responsible adults it would really be no problem but they get this ego…

gen 4 prius is like a living room couch and tons of legroom especially the passenger side. 

obd1 is not a big deal there is less electronic stuff to go wrong and you can find ways to read the codes. 

in the usa they do pay more via gas taxes. 

it’s a great source of tax revenue but i doubt it will do fuck all to actually make people buy smaller vehicles.

i meant “everyone” as a figure of speech. Musk is as popular as he is unpopular and Many people Despise the Walton Family and Jeff Bezos but that never stopped them from shopping at walmart and amazon.  A group of people feel similarly in the “i will never buy a tesla because Musk” but it is a very small group.
