The difference is that there were no witnesses when Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin. “Stand your ground” is easy to get away with when any potential witnesses are dead.

Georgia is also a stand your ground state. I think the difference here is less ‘stand your ground’ and more the fact that multiple witnesses watched her chase him down, pull out the gun, attack him, and then needlessly shoot him
This is why anything less than full-self-driving is worse than the driver not being in control the whole time. I’m not a fan of the robotaxis either, but at least they get the important point: You can’t return control to an inattentive driver, so get the driver out of the seat entirely
Boudin went and actually tracked down where the stolen materials were going and told the police to go after them, and the police refused, because they wanted Boudin gone. Jenkins has been DA for a year and a half and just decided to deal with break-ins in the last 3 months? She’s been DA for 18 months.
I’ve lived here for 20 years. Crime has never been as bad as the media breathlessly reports on. Violent crime is the lowest it’s been in 50 years. There was an uptick in car break-ins during the pandemic, which is easily solved by not leaving stuff in your car.
Back in college, I was throwing a party and picked up a girl I was interested in on the way to my place. I was driving down Page St in San Francisco, which, if you know it, has a stop sign on *every* block. I noticed a black SUV following me at one point.
I believe it was Maurice Sendak of “Where the Wild Things Are” who said something like “When I first got a book, I would hold it in my hands, smell it, flip the pages to hear the sound, taste the pages, and the very last thing I would do is read it.”

James Comer 100% expected that $200,000 loan he gave his brother to be paid back, while on TV accusing Joe Biden of being corrupt for… also loaning his brother $200,000.

Don’t forget the new laws that will punish businesses for hiring undocumented immigrants, pushing those immigrants out of the state and driving up prices for everything. That $17 million is going to cost a LOT more in labor in Florida than it would in a lot of other places
He’s addicted to the dopamine hits from pushing the button that makes all his followers jump. That’s all. Addiction doesn’t make very much sense in general, but it is what it is.
I was hanging out with a friend at a bar on Saturday, and the bartender noted that there was a cybertruck parked nearby, all you needed to do was walk out the front door and turn your head and look at it. Nobody bothered
I have a 2014 Prius and I love it. Fill it up a couple of times per year. Honestly I need to find more reasons to drive it because it’s mostly a get-out-of-town car, but I love that gas isn’t really a concern at all.
I like Wayne Brady, but why is, “What if it was my daughter, who isn’t here?” Being trotted out as a reason to be angry? Just be angry cos a drunk driver hit you. No need for this “As a father…” stuff.
Apple was in talks to pull Twitter off the App store then Musk freaked out, Tim Apple and Musk met and wouldn’t you know, the app didn’t get pulled and Apple Music appeared on Teslas. Weird.
Every single auto industry would be smart AF to get off Twitter immediately after Musk took over. He has access to all of that ad data, everything from how much they spend to what demographics they’re looking to target with which models. Hell, if I was legal for an auto company, I would have been looking into blocking…
He’s 100% going to file. He’s got lawyers for days, available 24/7. They’ll file suit, he’ll get a few news cycles where he’s interviewed going, “Don’t fuck with the Musk,” Media Matters will have to pay for some lawyers to push this to discovery, and then Musk will quietly pull it and pretend it never happened but…
