When you’re used to getting away with everything, all the time, it makes sense. Hell, I don’t even think there’s a way for anyone in the town to actually sue them over their refusal to do anything, SCOTUS has protected cops for years.

Most of their law enforcement is supposedly from their community, so I don’t think it was that. I think they were just scared.

I mean, Americans have made it crystal clear that they are not willing to buy less gasoline, I’d be price-gouging too if I was them. Gas is still cheaper than it is in Europe and Canada
