The bill is 26 bucks. Here there’s a 10% tax. Do you want to leave 20% tip, multiply 26*1.3. 25%, times 1.35 etc.  That's how I've done it.

Last time I went to a group meal, I knew one person there who was going on like month 7 or 8 of unemployment. Birthday person went ALL OUT ordering whatever off the menu and even insisted on everyone getting the special bottled water rather than flat. Unemployed person ordered modestly, then of course the bill was

I responded how I did b/c you listed your friend group’s set up. I’ll quote sex boat here; “my social circle understands that hosts shouldn’t impost costs on guests, but if your circle has a different understanding, great”

Hey at least you and I are on the same page here lol.

Responding despite your snotty tone anyways: well, you also seem to have a *group* of friends, and your group has all set the norm. This doesn’t work the same when you don’t have that same group setting. When you have that person you’re friends with and they invite ALL their friends (some you might know, some you’ve

Exactly—I have no problem inviting a friend out for their birthday and letting them pick the restaurant, the two of us.

also, omg i love your user name and icon.  that took me a minute.

ok.  I am glad your group has fun with this and it works for you!

Alright, I see your point in that. That does sound fair.
I’m thinking more like the people (I work with a few) that make a big fuss about their birthday week or month every year just as a way to get attention.

I just think it’s tactless when the gift comes from a request.  That’s all.  Like I said, it’s not like I refuse to pay.  You got some strong feelings on this one.

Also, for the record, I don’t mind at all asking a friend out as my gift to them.  It’s when THEY ask a bunch of their friends (often not from the same friend group) to get together for their birthday at some high end place.  Then you get to sit there with a bunch of other people’s friends and make small talk with

I don’t refuse to buy them dinner, I just think it’s a veiled gift, and so just like, be honest. Then again I couldn’t care less about my own birthday, and it seems like you’re into them, so enjoy!

“Group restaurant dinners are often birthday dinners. This is a doubled evil. It is common etiquette that the birthday person shouldn’t pay for their own meal, even if they’re the ones who picked the fancy restaurant. This kind of person doesn’t deserve to have more birthdays, but we can’t give you advice on arranging

I actually enjoy updating my ynab.  I do it 2-3x a wk generally.   Your method sounds really interesting though because it's more focused on liquidity and utilization, which would be helpful for those with mortgages/ loans/ long term credit card debt.

I’ve never seen any of Black Mirror before.  Do I need to before watching this or is it a standalone?

I met them in the early 90s and she was super friendly and talkative and prettier than she is in pictures, and he was also nice but was quiet and took a back seat to her.  If they split because of medical bills,  that's yet another sad statement on health care here....

Also i'm loving the q1 freedom.   Drug stores are a slam dunk for me,  I already spent $430 of the $1500 ffor the quarter and mostly on gift cards to places I was going to shop at anyways.

You’re doing basically exactly what i’m doing. I also like to use UR points for tours in cities I visit, through the portal. I’ve done that twice.  The only differences are I don't have a red card as i rarely shop target,  and i haven't pulled the trigger on the hyatt one yet but I've been eyeing it.   And i'm on the
