I don’t see why parents shouldn’t be allowed to show their kids 18+ material. They are allowed to raise their kids according to a religion, world views and tastes, so I don’t see what harm video games and porn flicks could do.

Germany: Steam Gift cards are 18+, so are all other store credit cards. Actual credit cards carry age information, so it would be easy for Steam and other platforms to check that age. I do not know, whether such a system is in place. Paypal and paysafe cards are 18+. It is not impossible for a minor to buy 18+ games…

That’s an important point: How can parents decide what their kids are supposed to see, listen to and play, if stores will simply sell them anything?

Works for Germany. We have a legally binding 16+ and 18+ rating. Stores are not allowed to sell anything age restricted to a minor. This does not prevent that material from going into minors’ hands, but it adds another layer of parental control. If you don’t want your kid to have an 18+ game, you don’t buy that game.…
