Sorry, I meant in terms of temperature - it will ignite at a lower temperature. Methanol also got dinged for carrying a low energy content - 1 gallon of methanol carries 49% of a gallon of gasoline.

Methanol is more flammable than gasoline, diesel, CNG, and propane. This shot it in the foot back in the 1980s during initial adoption.
