I would submit that if you are lifting so much weight that you can’t steadily lift/drop the bar, that in and of itself is a matter of ego.

Maybe this is in the video, but I can’t watch it right now: never, never, ever clip the weights when you bench by yourself. If you find yourself in a compromising position, you want to be able to rock the bar and tips the weights off so you can ultimately slide it off.
