She appears to be conveniently ignoring the fact that a lot of Americans define themselves by their ancestry. The US has more extravagant St Patrick’s Day celebrations than Ireland does. I believe that some US cities even dye their rivers green.

Sadly, this performance by a group of middle-aged dads reminded me that electric guitar is about as relevant to today’s music scene as Longclaw is to modern warfare.
The Royals don’t really have last names as such, but Windsor is the name of the royal house (they changed it from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha during WW1 because it sounded too German).
When he was in the army they used “Wales” as his last name on uniforms, rosters, etc. They don’t really have surnames. It does make me wonder what names are on, like, their physical credit cards.
That’s Prince Philip’s last name, originally from the German “Battenberg.” (Batten mountain)
My mother reported that, after three days, “they let me dangle my feet off the bed.” This was 1945.
Yes, Harry is of the House of Windsor. For the Mountbatten bit, it was converted from the German Battenburg: The Mountbatten family is a European dynasty originating as a cadet branch of the German princely Battenberg family. The name was adopted during World War I by family members residing in the United Kingdom due…
You need to watch The Crown! I was rather surprised they included that as part of the baby’s name.
Hey now. I’m sure if you had stylists, professional make-up artists, hair stylists, and professional lighting and photographers; I’m sure you could’ve been propped up, looking fantastic, for a photo-shoot too.
Before going over this I have to state again I object to coverage of the Royal family, I wish they would all die. Having said, quick primer on the naming convention of western European royalty.
I see you have lots of responses already, lol - I’ll just add this
Mountbatten is Prince Phillip’s last name. Sort of. It’s the anglicized version of his last name. Apparently back in the day he threw a bit of a strop about his name not being passed on and some of his kids/grandkids are including it but it’s not consistently used.
Prince Philip is a Mountbatten, he married the Queen in 1947, and in 1960 the Royal Family officially became the Mountbatten-Windsors.
Mountbatten is from Philip. He’s descended from a prince to some kingdom making up part of the Holy Roman Empire.
Mountbatten is Philips last name, so technically they are all M-W. It does vary, I believe he used Wales as a last name when he was in the Armed Forces, as in his dad is Prince of Wales but then Mountbatten Windsor doesnt really fit on the badges
I know the Mountbatten part comes from a translation of the family’s previous last name, which was Battenburg, which was considered too German in WWI. Windsor is probably one of the options available to them... I know that when he served in the army, Harry’s name tape, which shows the last name, was Wales. His…
We gonna do the Not Black Enough thing on a baby less than a week old? Really?
Congrats on your positive take replying to this unnecessarily rude remark :)
Oh fuck off. Some of us have three month old kids and want to see it desperately with our partners but have to find a three hour window where neither of us has to work and someone can watch the kid but doesn’t have to feed them because they’re too young for that. To name one of a thousand reasons that people who might…
