Mmm. This. Except nearly every time I’m on 130, I get stuck behind some F-150 doing 70 in the passing lane. Texans, keep right except to pass.

I’ve spent quite a lot of time in Thailand. Phuket for holidays and Bangkok for business. While I know that’s nowhere near the whole country, I think it’s a great place to be!
We don’t have twins but my kids are 21 months apart. My son turns 4 in July and daughter turns 2 in a week. Our vehicular stable is as follows.
Most likely so. However having lived in a snowy climate my entire life and valuing snow tires, I’ve gotten pretty good at judging conditions. Uphill at 80, it’s turning about 2200 rpm and the computer says 19 mpg. Not bad.
Please tell me you’re not the one blocking traffic uphill in the left lane. Maybe it’s coincidental but I constantly find myself stuck behind an NA CVT-saddled Outback / Forester uphill. I’ve got a buddy with a crosstrek and I’ve gotten to the point where I almost always offer to drive up the mountains. So…
Agreed. 2010 535xi that I drove to 120K with one fault (a rear tail light electrical failure that was repaired for $210 at Murray BMW in Denver.) My current ‘13 335xi has been trouble free although it only has 25K on it and a warranty to 100K with maintenance as well. It’s been great and I love driving it. No…
Haha. Fair enough! Yes, Waze and its ilk notify you of the locations of speed traps or cameras. I live in Colorado. Speed camera violations received in the mail are not legally binding and are not enforceable unless delivered in person. So you can ignore them until the courier arrives on your doorstep to hand the…
I actually prefer the way the UK does traffic enforcement to our way. Hear me out: 1) You rarely see anyone pulled over on the motorway in the UK. Here in the US it’s constant and traffic immediately backs up for fear that occupied officer will tag you. 2) Speed cameras are (mostly) conspicuously marked. Here in…
That’s beyond shocking. One would assume with the lack of power available from the NA boxer-4, you’d want as many forward ratios as possible. (At least from my experience stuck behind them (blocking the left lane here in Colorado) in traffic.
I did this earlier this year with a rental Peugeot 2008. It’s shockingly the last 2016-built vehicle with only 5 forward gears. Trying to change into the non-existent 6th on the M25 elicited some lovely grinding sounds which should only be reserved for rental fleets. “Whoops.”
COTD!!! Well done.
4 of the 7 were Chrysler products. I refuse to rent the 200, Dart, and Compass. All vehicles which are going away shortly. Had a rental Grand Caravan back in the summer and agree with all of the above. The interior is crap, the voice-activated (required) took 7 minutes to pair my phone and was constantly…
Yep. BMW driver here. I am self conscious of it and go out of my way to be extra courteous. If I screw up and am in the wrong lane, I use my signal, change lanes (with one of the two pedals) and only give friendly waves when I make a mistake...like cutting someone off. You become accustomed to the power and…
Ditto. I live in Denver and saw a brand new S65 the other day doing about 15 under. Guy driving it couldn’t have been a day under 90. Passed him on the right.
Fair enough. However I bet you’ve never been stuck behind one blocking traffic in the passing lane! Just remember folks, keep right except to pass.
Me too! Nope, first-gen Highlander.
Who knows. My bluetooth headphones still work like a champ.
While a paragraph or two in there would be appreciated, that’s a shockingly well written rant.
In other news: Moron climbs out from under a rock and learns the hard way that wrapping constantly processing, RF-producing electronics in thick, insulating items is a bad idea.
Agreed. This is the bad side of the Touareg. $70K vehicle treated like you’re driving a Jetta. Jeep suffers the same problems. Treated like you’re driving a rental-grade Compass. Speaking of rental grade vehicles, I bet you start to see these instead of Tahoes, Yukons, and Expeditions in rental fleets.
