This is the impression to those of us overseas, in comparable countries with strong gun control. We saw Sandy Hook, and in horror asked each other, ‘surely they’ll do something now?!’ But nothing happened. And some people became even more opposed to gun control. Then people started saying it was a hoax.

This breaks my Canadian heart. I love Americans and view you more as extended family than as neighbours. You deserve to be safe, and you deserve lawmakers who work to make you safe (and also heathcare, especially if people keep shooting at you).

I have nothing but respect for first responders who risk and sometimes lose their lives trying to save people in the line of fire. They are heroes. But I hate how the Cheeto-in-Chief and all the gun humpers go straight to "thanks to the first responders" so they don't have to address the gun problem in this country.…
