This looks like stupid fun as long as it's not three hours long.

Yeah, it's easy to handwave away as another expression of Perry's controlling nature.

From the Vulture interview with the director, Jean-Marc Vallee, on the singing at Trivia Night -

But she could easily have had a line like "You know what my dad was like" when she was counselling Nathan on how to parent Abigail. I think the show must have been trying to keep Bonnie's involvement as a surprise, because it would have been easy to include a hint in an earlier episode.

And Marti Noxon will be writing all eight episodes. Check out her resume.

First, can we ban the commenter who showed up purely to spoil it in last week's comment section? I never would have guessed that Bonnie was involved had I not seen that comment. Whoever mods here, please suspend that account or whatever.

It was ridiculous. But weren't the costumes great? And the songs performed were lovely, especially that of Zoe Kravitz. So it added to my enjoyment of the episode.

Joseph's wife, Tori, was dressed as Funny Face Audrey!

This reminded me of LP Hartley's line "The past is a foreign country". It was like watching a foreign film and I found it difficult to get my bearings! I'm not accustomed to the time period and what's considered acceptable in it. Like, if "My husband loves a hymen" is cool and funny before the virginity auction of a

And Hugh Skinner, who played the boyfriend in Fleabag, was playing much the same dimwit character here, in very different clothes and surroundings, until he turned nasty with Lucy.

A middle-aged female character like Paula, who works as a paralegal and doesn't look like a movie star? She usually wouldnt even get an interior life on tv and in movies. For Hollywood, it's basically like giving a voice to a teapot or a stone gargoyle in a Disney animated feature. So I appreciate her storyline as

I'd love to see a much younger actor in the role.

Very late seeing this movie but how is it misogynistic? It's not something I noticed, but I'm not ruling out the possibility that you're right!

Good review.

So did Mo Ryan at Variety, and Emily Nussbaum at The New Yorker. That's good enough for me.

So… Cato wants to start the Civil War? ;) And I guess he mostly wanted to show Noah the truth about Noah. Spending time with fabulously wealthy Cato was a weird interlude, though. And I didn't like this episode as much.

I'm not sure where to put this, but will that new teen drama on Netflix "13 Reasons Why" get covered by the AVC? I'm seeing good things about it on Twitter.

Sounds good! And I'm delighted to see that GV will review every episode here.

I wasn't interested in the apartment-building plot, which took up more of the movie as it went on (for too long). I could have done without that. I was interested in Clara's relationships with other people. This review describes it as two movies and I would have preferred just the one — the one that wants to hang with

Ooh, good catch. I didn't notice that, but I didn't find it contrived in the slightest. I think the reason Perry surprised Celeste by returning early from his uh, business trip, was to prevent her from attending opening night. She was at the very least going to show up late and bruised, but more likely not at all.
