Yeah, Madeline should have confided in one of her friends instead. They're adults and they're not part of the family.

It's really good. While showing you the horror and sadness of slavery, it delivers a kind of exciting heist/fugitive drama about trying to escape slavery. There are only 10 episodes in the first season, and it kicks into high gear in episode 4.

Yeah, Nathan is that guy who goes around complaining about his controlling exes, while he searches for another beautiful woman to tell him what to do!

This is essentially Madeline's problem.

I was really surprised Madeline told her daughter. I know Ed's not Abigail's father, but it's still a huge, adult thing for Abigail to deal with. And Madeline and Ed have never admitted it out loud either, so bringing another person into that secret is a gamble.

Agreed! It was satisfying to see Bonnie finally losing her cool there, and having "a human reaction" herself.

I like getting more scenes of Bonnie and Nathan as we did this week, because I'm intrigued by their dynamic as a couple. Like, when the show started I thought Nathan had chosen a partner as far removed from Madeline as possible. (And I bet he thought so too.) He went from a relationship with an angry, controlling,

I disagree with the reviewer that the story was saved at the last minute or that it was in need of saving. I thought this was a fantastic episode. Rosalee was amazing and Ernestine is in hell. I love that Harriet rescued her mother and that Rosalee hopes to do the same. And I love that Underground doesn't shy away

Agreed. It was like the editor was trying to draw attention to themselves and away from the characters! Whoever's putting the show together should have more faith in the characters to keep us interested.

There's something louche about Gordo. I totally buy that a woman as high-strung as Renata would be attracted to him, and vice-versa. They sell the chemistry too.

Someone here needs to paddle in the shallow end and I'm happy to do it. Alexander Skarsgard looked like he was modelling that tennis gear, and I immediately rewound so I could watch his entrance a second time. It's a pleasure to see him and Santiago Cabrera on the one show, hotting up the place. Also, I bet Laura Dern

March is already on track to be the highest-viewed month in our long history

Rebecca manipulating Josh like that in the opening scene made me uncomfortable. And then he sleeps on the couch after his blow-job! They're a total mess from the get-go.

Okay but so far all Ed has done is look at other women while his wife fucks around with the hot Musketeer.

He was Aramis! Thank you.

Also, the tone of The Affair was more serious than that of this show. That doesn't make The Affair a better show by any means (I gave up for lack of caring after 6 episodes or so!) but it probably helps to convince people that it's more worthy.

Well, he himself told us that Madeline is drawn to damaged people…

Perry wanting another baby gave me the heebie-jeebies. And Celeste telling the therapist that he doesn't like her having too many friends! Yikes.

…Sounds like season four, right there.

Thanks.
