Just one website/book's way of doing it. But in essence, yeah doing the same thing. Though it starts out with microwaving the salted raw eggplant slices and then pressing them between paper towels, to get as much moisture out as possible.

Did you do the SeriousEats method? I tried that one once. I think I wasted a whole roll of paper towels, and I permanently damaged the microwave (I had so many levels of eggplant stacked on plates, the weight ruined the turning mechanism, so now it groans like it's in pain every time I use it).
