I hope she can still follow through with taking her banking business elsewhere, as they clearly don’t deserve it. But I know that is probably 1,000x easier said than done.

I completely understand how people can get involved in cults. What I don’t understand is how people can get involved in a cult that is quite clearly 100% a bunch of shit someone just made up from the get-go. It would make about as much sense as me going outside and shouting verbatim “I have the secret to eternal…
Tell me about it. I can teach you how to do it for $50 a month.
I will never understand how people fall for this shit. It has to be a form of entitlement to be in a position where a random idiot can tell you he can teach you how to unlock your mind or some shit if only you pay them $2000 a month.
I didn't understand a single word of this article...
is Richard Belzer the “topless septuagenarian” in this story or not? Because it’s a little confusingly worded.
I don’t think his comedy is worth reverence but his bravery in openly criticizing political and media bullshit at the time is. He did the right thing at the right time (the W era). Also, while I don’t blame him for retiring from that position when he did, the fact that he did should detract from his “elder statesman”…
Stewart was always funny and occasionally godlike in his timing. His Daily show was always interesting and sometimes brilliant. But yeah, his ultra fans could be irritating in their insistence of both how great he was and how “Like, it’s a comedy show that’s more informative than the real news, lol lol lol lol lol!”
“Did you see when that old broad took off her top? Her breasts dropped faster than..."
Except that’s not what happened. Terry files a complaint and he loses an important position he was looking forward to as a result.
“Gottfried was on the call, doing whatever you can imagine Gottfried would do in a scenario like the one described above”
I’ll probably get roasted for this but I’ve never revered Jon Stewart (or Colbert) as much as his hard core fans do - I mean, he’s amusing but - meh. I’ll definitely admit to really enjoying him on the Larry Sanders show though - he was hilarious playing off Shandling. It’s kinda strange because I’ve found myself…
It is one of the great ironies that, after 30 years of trying to learn to make eye contact better, I now find myself communicating in a medium where if I look at someone’s eyes I’m looking away from them, and looking right at them requires staring at my webcam just slightly above their heads.
That’s one of my big frustrations with this whole issue. People act like education and awareness is the problem. I’ve known about police brutality, sex abuse, and racial inequality as long as I can remember. It’s not like we as a culture don’t know, it’s a question of how we are able to handle it.
And yet when the show tackles these issues like systemic racism in the police department it hand waves it away with “The Only to Stop a Bad Cop is a Good Cop”. Terry reports the racist cop that arrested him and Holt hands out his phone number on posters and the matter is resolved. It’s a fantasy that propagates very…
yeah, Brooklyn 99 has never shied away from showing that there are terrible people on the force too. hell, pretty much everyone outside of the main set of characters who’s on the force is either corrupt or totally incompetent
I thought their fourth season episode Momo did a fine job of mixing comedy and a Message.
Smart
I understand the impulse and why they feel they need to do this, but I don’t know if B99 is the show to tackle these subjects. The show is so wacky and unrealistic most of the time that when it starts getting serious about real world problems it often comes off as awkward and stilted. They play like Very Special…
