A couple weeks ago I saw a deer by the side of the road that was either a stuffed trophy or a decoy, because it never moved, just feet from the shoulder. That was creepy enough. I cannot imagine how I would have felt in your situation.

It could have been a sleep disorder, knocking in the night is one of the more common hypnagogic hallucinations. Or it could be a creep who spotted you and your dad and waited until you gave up for the night. The creeper might have stopped because they figured they were pushing their luck.

There was a bar in Detroit in the Eightes that had a vibe like that. I’d walk in there to watch a band and just get angry and want to hurt someone. My best friend cracked his head so loudly tripping on the stage that you could hear it from ten feet away. We both agreed it should be burned to the ground and the land

You need to check out Uncanny from BBC Podcasts, also the creators long-form podcasts The Battersea Poltergeist and his new one The Witch Farm, which started last week. Great, creepy listening.

I’m pretty sure you’re right about that. I would have confirmed it myself, but our local history librarian is on vacation this week and I can’t pick his brain. He would know in a heartbeat. I work at FPL, and sadly we don’t have a book on the history of Halo Burger. Someone needs to write one.

Breaking my ban on commenting here to warn you that people in Flint will cut you, or worse, for claiming their burger is more associated with Lansing. How you wrote this without once mentioning Halo Burger is beyond me.

I can’t guarantee it 100%, but I strongly suspect this will be my last ever comment at this site, after near two decades. I will miss your work, Gwen, and this site as it was.

Yep. I’ve said many times that I stopped watching the show because I wasn’t willing to watch Buffy Meets the Despair Squid. I knew it wouldn’t be a patch on the original and it was one ‘homage’ too far for me.

Behrad still has his totem, so the effects aren’t gone.

I enjoyed Constantine as a character and Ryan’s performance, but I can’t deny that Legends is stronger when it’s about time travel rather than magic. It was like Constantine had a gravitational pull on the stories and they couldn’t escape becoming more about him. I’m glad they found a way to keep Ryan while balancing

It’s pretty common knowledge in and around Detroit that the food industry, and any industry that supports it is controlled by the mafia. I used to work for a packaging company and when we considered branching into food packaging, one of our salesmen told  us not to do it with a stern, “That’s controlled.” We did not

Found out last night that DOTN is on Criterion Channel. I will be watching today.

You sound exactly like me when I saw the play.

Me, too. Can’t blame her a bit. This was almost the last thing I was still coming here for, so another nail in the coffin for me. There are still commenters I will miss.

Your ending it? Right when I was going to beg you to do Bedrooms and Hallways, inspired by the site of Tom Hollander as Mr. Collins. There is a dream sequence in it where he does a delightful parody of Austen clerics, years before being actually cast as one.

Britbox has it, but not Death on the Nile. There must be some rights issue holding it up.

And Roddy McDowall managed to be bitchier than both of them. I really do need to watch that again.

I am super frustrated by Batwoman this season. I was going to quit at the mid-season break, but Rose from Jane the Virgin as Poison Ivy was too perfect casting and it sucked me back in. Spent the whole episode this week wondering why I was watching.

I assume the Jedi just wave their hands and tell the droid there is no weapon, which begs the question of whether Force mind control works on droids.

I own Nanny Ogg’s Cookbook, though I suspect it’s in storage at the moment. Unfortunately, none of my family or friends in the area read Discworld, so I have no one who would appreciate a Discworld meal.
