I didn’t like that forced parallel either. Why did Rory/the show assume that Logan wouldn’t end things with his fiancee and be with Rory and the baby? I don’t think it would have been so easy, but Rory was basically planning to go it on her own before she even told Logan about it. He has a history of making changes

Frankly in the revival all her boyfriends came off looking better than she did. Even Logan.

Agreed. Jess is the guy who had a tough childhood and adolescence but pulled himself together, grew out of it and made something of himself. He also made an effort on his relationships with Luke and his mom. He doesn’t deserve to be dragged down with Rory’s myriad self-inflicted problems.

The point is that we uncover that Nathaniel (like everyone on hte show) is more than he seems. Really great stuff about masculinity and self-expression with him.

So true. And I love that Josh is a dud and not this amazing guy who’s particularly worth pining for. It really drives home the point of projecting your fantasies on someone and expecting them to fill the void within you.

It would help if Rory stopped sucking though. The revival surprised me by how it managed to make all of Rory’s boyfriends/lovers look so good in comparison to her.

Chris isn’t horrible because of what he did as a teen. He’s horrible because of his continuously selfish and negligent behavior as an adult. And the revival idea that Logan would be like him didn’t make a lot of sense. Rory’s idea that, because 16-year old Chris decided certain things about parenthood, her grown-up

The thing is, the revival left me feeling that it was Rory who was the asshole with Logan just sort of aiding her horrible behavior. The set-up where Jess is her “Luke” made me sad. For Jess. Who should have moved on from someone so clearly unworthy of him.

I don’t quite agree. Something I found out and that triggered a complete change of my life including other country was that being comfortable is usually bad. This is what Josh is telling to Rebecca: without her he would have fallen into a life of conformity he would find as a prison too late. I really love that

It would definitely go down this way if they were to make a sequel to the revival. Which, uh. And this is coming from someone who loves Jess, always wants more screentime for him and is a huge Jess/Rory fan.

It’s Sherman-Palladino world.

I’m hoping it’s cosplaying Chewbacca’s child.

Yeah Jess raising Rory and Logan’s child isn’t something that anyone would like to see really. Jess deserves so much better

I’ve commented on this facet of the show before, that Rory ends up seeking out the life of frivolous leisure that Lorelai rejected, but it’s never underscored as a point of conflict between them. I think that’s one of the reasons why some of us who enjoy the show end up feeling that Rory isn’t a very good person. I

Any season with Let’s Generalize About Men, Strip Away My Conscience, The End of the Movie, A Diagnosis, First Penis I saw... is not “mostly sub-par songs”.

Logan really thought he can own Jess the same way he squashed Dean like a bug by just showing up with his friends or making Marty his bitch by inviting him to dinner with Rory and make him feel small. Ah but Jess is calm, cool, and collective and knew what he was up against. He laid some truth on Rory and made her

I have been watching the series again since these reviews began, and while it has gotten oddly difficult to watch all of the terrible decisions the girls make, I do enjoy reading these and getting different perspectives.

Since you started these reviews I’ve been watching along (in season 7 now) — upon rewatch it’s clear to me that Jess is maybe the best guy, but DEFINITELY not meant to be with Rory. I always saw Logan as the right person for her, because unlike her mother, Rory genuinely enjoys and seeks out a lot of the luxuries her

The show got a bit meta when George complimented Rebecca for her bravery representing ...um ...heftier women and Rebecca scowled at him in return.

During the Sperm song I just kept wondering where Maya was.
