Ah yes, the man who was crazy enough to let me write about my 944 IN PRINT is Getting/Out. Congratulations! I’ve spun “Can I write about the Porschelump?” into a periodically recurring thing, all thanks to Autoweek giving me a shot at it a long, long time ago.

I’ve watched and enjoyed his channel. It’s clean family viewing.

Jalopnik’s been letting in some low effort clickbait recently, but this really takes the cake. Fire the editor who greenlit this, then fire the guy who hired that editor.
Except that was probably a herb.

Steve, welcome to Jalopnik. You’re going to need to do better than this.

Engineer by trade so I’m familiar with the equation and knew what it meant. It’s just that unlike most flying machines my pathetic attempt at a joke failed to land...

If you’re old enough/judged responsible enough to drive a vehicle on public roads, you’re old enough/responsible enough to face adult charges for vehicular crimes.

Before anyone skips past how he justified the quality of the lower priced filters and oil he is recommending and just dogs on the prospect of using cheaper oil and filters, please remember the US is increasingly seeing it’s citizens at or slightly above poverty level, so this is a nice tip to save a few dollars that

Missed opportunity for the Ford Active Replaceable Tether System.

Can we maybe have Erik write opinion pieces rather than reviews? I’m not against there being bold opinion on this site - it’s just I was hoping for more “review” in this review, rather than judgmental snark. There’s a time and a place for that stuff - and it’s not in reviews.

Just go read some of Mercedes Streeter’s work. Thorough, insightful, analysis of new cars. Even when we’re talking about a ‘First Drive’ article. Her review of the VW Taos - an SUV of all things - was consummately professional.

What has happened to car reviews on Jalopnik? It’s rare I click on them any more, but I’m genuinely considering an XF for my next car so gave this one a read.

I remember our family driving cross country in 1977. We rented an RV, took three weeks, NJ-CA and back. While driving west into South Dakota, I saw a billboard for Wall Drug. It was something like 200 miles away. Those billboards popped up every 15-20 miles or so, counting down the miles. Finally the last one said

I hate to give you bad news, but the tumor on your ass has metastasized.

*cough* allow me...

Take it one step further: build up glass side panels and the US Postal Service can become the US Pope-stal Service.

The Fab Rats team has been interesting to watch. Not always a vehicle build but mostly. Production quality isn’t super high but they’re still learning. I came across them when watching Matt’s Off Road Recovery. Here’s a video about the trans rebuild for their new Corvair off-road rig.

I lane split in the DC area in the summer when I am stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic, laws be damned. When traffic is barely moving on the Beltway and it’s 90++ degrees, I’m at greater risk of a heat stroke than I am of a car accident while splitting. I’m still not going to go over 15-20 mph, and I tend to prefer the

The beauty of the stalk is the ease of flicking it in one direction or the other without much thought. Those buttons have to be pushed very deliberately, which I assume would reduce utilization.

You raised him right. :)

We found my son a 2013 Accord with almost 80,000 miles for $11,000. My wife was concerned with how many miles it has and I was like, “Honey, this is practically new for an Accord.” And to be honest. it was the cleanest used car I’ve ever seen in my life, regardless of mileage. Like the previous owner had coated the
