AutoBox, Roll Out!

There’s actually quite a lot of debate and thought that goes into what platform to select when a FD purchases a truck for thier fleet. Contrary to what one may think, we as firefighters don’t particularly like big trucks. The bigger the truck, the less you can see, the less you can maneuver, the less options you have

Hearing its music often enough can contribute to homicidal impulses, but the ice cream truck is killing kids via the long game - setting ‘em up for a life demanding instant gratification, destined for obesity & the diabeetus!

I’m a single car household so I still need one vehicle that can do absolutely everything, and part of that everything is multiple 450 mile drives a month across states with lousy infrastructure in general and lousy charging.

CA gov is phasing out ICE by 2035. I will have all the time after that to buy EVs, but I only have 11 more years for ICE. I’m going for ICE all the way until then.

I clicked a few hyperlinks within this story and none of them were related to the story. Turn off the AI or just stop doing this and wasting our time.

How about “stranded”? How about “sent up to space on a wing and a prayer - and on an overbudget rocket engineered by monkeys and made even more useless by bureaucrats”? Abandoned seems just about right to me.

I care. It’s dumb, inauthentic and irritating. Additionally I’m sure that bad actors will find a way to make their EVs as catastrophically loud as the current crop of ICE shit-cans with no mufflers tuned to make everyone’s ears bleed by backfiring at any lift of the throttle.

In short: no.

Price is a big factor keeping me out of one, though ironically, I work for Porsche so if I were to get an EV, a Taycan or the upcoming Macan EV would be my best options thanks to employee incentives.

In other news people still learning free speech isnt a comprehensive protection / license to say dumb shit constantly.

Clueless Boeing upper management who decimated their engineering culture: “Just strap a rocket to a 757 and point it straight at the ISS. That’s a thing, right?”

I drive a lot of back roads and scenic routes. We take a lot of weekend trips and drives outside of our regular vacations, which involve driving 99% of the time. I enjoy the freedom of just taking a random route that looks interesting without having to worry about planning when and where I need to charge or having to

Between my wife and myself we barely drive 10K mies a year, and there’s nothing all that appealing about ANY $60K vehicle, gas or EV. We’re happy with simple, affordable to own and operate vehicles like our Maverick Hybrid. We don’t feel the need to impress the neighbors or the environmentalists.

As long as it’s an option that can be turned off, I’m all for it. Let your freak flag fly.

Jesus Christ, Boeing.

Price. Mostly.

Never underestimate the power of human stupidity.

Who is the CEO of GM right now and who does he/she support in the next election? I honestly have no idea, but I would bet some old white dude named John.

Some states charge property taxes on vehicles as well as homes. Pissed me RIGHT off when I got slammed with that one in a couple of mid-southern states that squeal about their low income taxes (and then tax everything in sight).

You guys are so funny.  One day the EV bubble is going to burst.  Next day, EV sales are at record levels.  Pick a lane son.

1st Gear: Good.
