People will buy literally anything as long as it’s from Silicon Valley. I bet most of them won’t even care that FSD will never happen.

Yeah it’s like expecting someone who’s into fancy watches to be drooling over an Apple watch just because it has more functions.
“BuT eVs aRe FAsTEr!”
Slow news day? What he said was rather dumb, tone deaf, and irrelevant to the occasion, but nothing worth getting worked up over.
There actually were survivors at Tenerife in the taxiing plane, even though the majority of those on board that one also died. The KLM that was taking off had no survivors.
Tesla managed to sell cars with a yoke in spite of obvious safety issues, so they should have no issues with this (aside from, well, making it).
I’m convinced it was a joke at this point.
F1 engines typically don’t stall, and I’m pretty sure they’re still started by an external starter.
AFAIK, “re-energizing” is just a buzzword, and all they’re doing is refueling. The refueling time is artificially limited based on how much combined energy (between the fuel and the battery) they used during the previous stint. Even though they’re not charging the battery on their pit stop, the amount of time they…
While EVs are still too expensive, I don’t think they cost so much that only people like Ludacris can afford them.
Still looks better than the Taycan equivalent, so you’re good.
“See, EVs can be fun! All they have to do is fake it and pretend to *actually* be fun cars!”
The fact that the Taycan, a 2.5 ton pig (in both weight and looks), is routinely considered one of the best EV “sports cars” on offer should show just how unappealing they are as actual “fun” vehicles. Boats that can accelerate from 0-60 and offer nothing else do have their place for sure (look at Hellcats/Demons and…
Manufacturers’ insistence on intentionally making EVs more of a pain in the ass to live with than a typical gas-powered car, even when they should theoretically be easier to live with, is just one of several reasons why I’m not getting one anytime soon. If I were to buy an EV, it would be one that’s completely…
Personally, I’m not looking forward to charging stations being everywhere - especially the standalone ones. They’ll increase the size of parking lots, and the standalone ones will need to have more vehicle capacity than equivalent gas stations because vehicles will be stuck there for a lot longer instead of the stream…
Plus the Taycan looks like an inbred Panamera, and I didn’t think Porsche could make anything uglier than the Panamera.
You really think the Cybertruck is gonna be a lightweight? If it’s less than 3.5 tons I’ll be surprised. Granted that’s still less than a Hummer EV, but that’s hardly an accomplishment.
Now it’s GM and Ford embracing the “transportation appliance” image, while Toyota is still building actual cars (and quite a few fun cars at that).
Novi, Livonia, Sterling Heights...roughly 300,000 people between them, and not a single of those places even has a downtown. They definitely couldn’t exist without cars. Honestly most of Metro Detroit outside the city itself is just one indistinguishable expanse of arteries and parking lots, dotted with unconnected…
Shouldn’t a gearbox magnify the noise though? EV gearboxes are always reduction gears, forcing the motor to turn faster than the wheels are, which should make them noisier.
