Normally, a prosecutor will offer more than one charge. Charge someone with murder 1 and 2. Give the jury an out if you feel you can't prove premeditation. In this case, a murder 2 (which requires malicious intent) and a manslaughter charge would not mix well. The prosecutor would basically be admitting their case

People are upset because Martin should not have been killed because he went for a late night snack. There is a sense of wrongness to that. People want justice. That the actual events become mired in self defense law that few actually have taken the time to read much less understand just confuses the mob screaming

I do not disagree with you about Martin feeling threatened. I can guarantee he felt threatened as would any reasonable person. Despite that, it is not illegal for one person to approach and question another person in a public street. Martin feeling threatened is not relevant to the Florida self defense law as it

I never disputed that Zimmerman followed Martin. I fully believe Zimmerman confronted Martin. I don't know where your except is. The evidence you state proves one man approached and verbally confronted another man in a public street. That is not criminal.

I agree with most of what you stated. With the evidence at hand, Zimmerman is not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt for any charge. That is why the original prosecutors with jurisdiction chose not to prosecute. Waste of their time and tax dollars. This is just political theater.

In Florida, you can be sentenced up to 15 years for 'Manslaughter by Culpable Negligence: Engaging in “Culpably Negligent” conduct that resulted in the death of another person.'

Zimmerman is on trial for second degree murder. Several witnesses and all available evidence supports Zimmerman's claim that he was attacked, losing the fight, and placed in a dangerous position. The medical examiner agreed on stand with the defense that Zimmerman's life was in danger (I did 2 years of MMA and they

GO TO COURT, GO TO COURT, GO TO COURT!

Those that care the most get to do the work. Expecting someone else to assign the same value of importance to our own idiosyncrasies is unrealistic. If someone else does not see the need to do something, they will never put the time, energy, or effort into that task to satisfy the person that does care. The person

Reading some of these comments, I can't help but think people on Jezebel think too highly of themselves. While it is nice for people to mouth platitudes, "It does not matter how you talk, dress, act, ect..."; they are just painting a rosy picture for themselves. People judge one anther based on physical appearance,

Yeah. As a general rule, most people suck.

Posted a similar thread before I saw yours. You were first.

Does the world need ANY beauty pageants?

If he named her, he gives her an identity as an individual and tacitly recognizes her as an equal (or at least human). By referring to her as 'the woman', it designates her as a thing that is lesser than him. It just further illustrates his perception of women and how shitty he really is.

Is he trying to dress like Hitler!? Why is he still on TV, radio, or anything that allows him to communicate with other human beings?

All religions are irrational. When you put together a 2000+ page tome of mythologies, poems, and ideology...certainly you will come across a few tid bits of wisdom. Infinite monkey theory...enough monkeys on enough typewriters with enough time will eventually write Shakespeare's complete works. This does not make

I wrote this comment late at night when coming back from being out with friends. I now realize it is harsh and rude. That is unnecessary. I apologize for that.

Thank you. I strongly dislike the "well violence happens here too, so it's all the same" erroneous argument. It is silly, naive, and reductive.

I am just relaying my sister's observations to me and, as such; cannot objectively get into a discussion as to their accuracy. A problem when arguing from authority.

I'm sorry. Try again. Please read the other comments in the thread. They address the majority of the points you bring up. But for brevity's sake:
