The aftermarket tune on a ‘98 is a joke.  Keep it full of oil and it will run longer than the rest of the vehicles you own for the next 10 years.

This is an astoundingly bad take. Hatchbacks came first. Sedans are terribly impractical compared to hatchbacks. It’s nice for you that you don’t need a hatch, since you don’t like them. but there’s no logic in your argument.

It looks like the wagon-esque body of the Impreza should give you a little more cargo space than the Mazda’s more sloped hatchback body. The engines are similar in output. There’s still “money owed” on the car? I’d want to know exactly how much and in what way. Otherwise, no way would I go 19 large on a car that someone could tow away in the middle of the night because of a lien that exists held by some mechanic who didn’t get paid.
