Chalamet also appeared on ESPN’s “College Gameday” ahead of the SEC Championship Game in December to deluge his love for college football and sports in general

Did not see that kumming.

The former “Top Gear” and “Grand Tour” host bemoaned the fact that modern cars are getting too heavy for his liking.

Small sample size, but still…

My college girlfriend and I drove the non-convertible version of this car from Minneapolis to Seattle in 1985. The interstate mountain passes were absolutely harrowing. I’d rather be hit by this car than buy it.

Back in 1988 my sister got a 1983 Cavalier as part of her divorce settlement. She tried to give it to me, and she couldn’t believe I wouldn’t take it for free. It was without question the worst car I have ever driven. I told her I’d rather walk.

That’s a bit steep for fuck-it money to me, but for some reason it strikes me as an appealing project. Like flyingstitch, the headliner somehow hooked me. Perhaps because it would be essentially impossible to get it back to this state if it were torn, filthy, or missing.

I wondered, too. The truth is stranger than I imagined.

There are few cars that I would sincerely say, “not even if it was free”, but this is one. I can’t imagine anything but embarrassment from owning or driving it.

This thing has me thinking unhealthy thoughts. I know nothing about it. It’s wildly impractical (look at that frunk!) Parts availability in the U.S. must be awful.

My first car, if it was in sedan form. Even the color is right. It was an utterly miserable experience, and I wouldn’t re-buy it for any price, even if it meant I could be a care-free, unencumbered 22 year old again.

I have to say ND because of that title, but a quick search surprised me. I found a few clean-title 2012 TSX wagons in the $12K-$13K range, but I’m also seeing them in the mid $20Ks. Not sure if they’re selling, but if so, they’re holding their value better than I would have guessed.

Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

That sounds right. I love that channel, but the Alpina playlist proved to me that I will never be ready to own one of these things.

If I recall, the rebuilt engine immediately failed due to heat expansions in the sleeves. So now it has a stock 7 series motor, which actually works?

Not just you.

+1 Alanis Morissette

Fond memories of these things zipping around the state university next to my house growing up, where they were used by the groundskeepers (different livery, obviously).

I hate that I’m going to be the Well Actually Guy about this particular topic, but it’s “Ku”, not “Klu”.

All I can think of when I see that photo.
