Natalie looks like Keira in that 3rd picture.
@Cory Gross: I know this sounds pretty bad, but your relationship to God is surely unidirectional. There is no way to convincingly show that it isn't anything but your psyche having discussions with itself. IMHO that's the most logical thing to assume. I know it's a nice idea to think there is a higher power…
@jzroll: Well, I'm no expert in wingsuit flying but it doesn't take that long for a parachute to open enough (at least to offer a chance of survival). I'm pretty sure they have rehearsed the routes so that the critical parts are very limited and if something goes wrong they have at least one backup plan.
@Cory Gross: Good points there.
@Cory Gross: I'm not quite sure what you mean with "relational". You mean that you can't as easily anthropomorphise maths as you can religion? Or how you usually don't relate to physics on an emotional level?
It's like with malware. The first thing malicious software usually does once it gets root access is patch the system, or just about anything that makes it more secure against other attacks.
@Nivenus: Am I understanding correctly that you would want to see a few characters in each class of the show without any extra traits just because in real life most people are boring and non-controversial?
@Craig Michael Ranapia: I know, man, SGU brings me to tears as well.
@Cory Gross: I wasn't questioning anyone's faith, my friend. I was showing that Caprica wasn't actually discussing faith. It was talking about what makes people want to put their trust on faith alone (see how they are not the same thing).
@Shai: Oh man, I don't think I have anything else to add..
@Starlionblue: You mean this statue?
@Craig Michael Ranapia: That's fine, but I wouldn't tune my TV to watch you weep every week either.
@Starlionblue: Yeah, he does seem quite pompous and he seems to like his own voice a lot :) There are some nice subtleties in the tape. The finnish guy is Mannerheim who is trying to stay neutral in some political matters. German isn't my first language either, but I found a transcript.
@Starlionblue: Actually, there is one tape that was secretly taped in Finland where he discusses in a normal tone. I believe it is the only document where we can have some idea how he behaved outside his public persona.
@Starlionblue: How do you know he was unpleasent?
@Nivenus: Hellbent on power? Well, I guess they rather took something that's true in our world and placed it in theirs. If absolute power doesn't corrupt absolutely in Caprica, then I suppose it would be harder to relate to them as humans.
@Anekanta - Re-Socialized Killbot: Good points there. I would expand that it's interesting to think about the versions of ourselves in the virtual afterlife which clearly is a metaphor for the afterlife real-world religions very keenly advertise.
@Cory Gross: I think it's not about what religions consider faith, it's about what and why people expect something from the supernatural. It's also a little about how it can be used to exploit people (i.e., the price you have to pay). If you promise people everlasting life, some will buy it as your friend very well…
@Cash907Censored: If you say non-religious people presenting religious dilemmas is the same thing as talking to vegan about steakhouses.. then I think your analogy is a bit off.
