When you're in the game's social hub, The Tower of The Last City, you walk around in third person with your helmet off. A lot of the game's cutscenes will have your character's face showing as well.

I think that more than anything, the romances influence how you read scenes. It may not be a change in isolated tone and dialogue, but across the arc of a story the romances can add inflection. Having sentinels on the rooftops where they can see trouble and call it out to the guys on the ground seemed reasonable to me. Having them shoot to kill the moment they see you up there seemed a bit off, though. Must have been a nightmare to fix your roof back then.
