IIRC, Cline originally pitched Ready Player One as a movie script, but his editor said the timing wasn’t quite right for it and that he should first flesh it out as a novel for it to gain traction before jumping to the screen.

When you go into a game, you can open network settings and there is a section where you can get a friend code.  You and your GF can share those codes and friend each other, then you can go into Multiplayer (chosen during starting the game) and you can then join each other’s group.

I’ve been following these devs since it was first even hinted at coming out.  I’m glad it’s actually going to come out at some point!

Yeah this video is pretty freaking GREAT.  I can identify most of the youtubers he’s referencing, but my favorite has to be the scientist guy. I actually love that guys videos!  I can’t remember what channel he’s in, but I think he shows up pretty often on Sixty Symbols and Numberphile?

I was thinking the same thing. I don’t think this would sit stable on its side. I saw the curve kinda sweeps back a bit, but I don’t see a way for it to have 4 points of contact.

I was just thinking about this game the other day.  It was so difficult and had a lot of obfuscated systems.  Glad to hear it might be coming back.

A sadly ignored gem of anime.  The detail of world craft in that movie is staggering.

The episode where he got drunk in the middle of the day was so charming.  And the ramen episode too!

This show is so good.  The old guy is a delight!

This is why I stopped playing it. It demands way too much time for far too little reward. They keep trying to make these “smaller experiences” for people like me who have less free time than a college student, but in the end the rewards are for the people who play multiple hours every day.

For real. Just because Shayne from sales stood up for you once doesn’t mean he has your best interests in mind.  If they want to be invited into the community, they need to be the one with a hammer smashing the walls that their people have erected around themselves.  Until then, the fun will remain a mystery.
