Some people can’t afford to replace their tires, some are going for a false economy, and many are just ignorant of this important issue.  California, surprisingly, has no concept of safety inspection for privately owned cars, so you see people driving around on tires so worn out, you could stick a penny in the tread

Look at how nice and in the lines that coupe was driving, minding it’s own business. And then the Bully SUV trying to drive exactly how they would in the dry, because all SUV owners think their cars are invincible because they are larger...Lets ignore that white sedan on the side though, they were an SUV driver prior

Same mistake by almost every single one of these people. They hydroplane as they hit the overpass runoff, then proceed to brake instead of just easing up on the throttle.

People in SUVs driving too fast for conditions?
I’m shocked I tell you. Just shocked.

People are just overly confident in their driving skills and vehicle capabilities. And a ton of these people never heard of a thing called hydroplaning.

The question though, is it delivery is going down while dine-in and takeout are seeing rises? If delivery is down as are overall sales then it may not be consumers no longer favoring it but rather they simply don’t have the budget for it anymore.

In the video he even calls out the myth that cutting sandpaper will sharpen scissors.

Yeah, I quit because it’s too expensive. I had Dash Pass, but I didn’t use it enough to warrant the $10/month, and without it, the delivery fees are completely ridiculous. Now I stick to places close enough for me to go pick up food.

It’s insane to think that people are paying a premium on fast food plus a surcharge for delivery, then waiting up to an hour for cold, soggy food.

Your Uber driver might be the retiree who needs a little extra cash, or the husband who needs a valid excuse to get away from the wife on a Saturday. They are people who at least have to interact with their customer for most of the process and seem normal.

Anything that kills those extortionist delivery service apps is progress.

Even before the pandemic people used 3rd party delivery apps. Some of the food just gets dropped off in front of the house. Sometimes they go to the wrong house. Sometimes they give you the wrong food.

Adapt?

Were restaurants relying on third-party delivery services in their business plans?

I live in a place that has zero food delivery services, and most of the restaurants are only open 4 months out of the year, so I really have no perspective on this third-party food delivery app situation. Do people really use this

Not even slightly surprising. Deliveries cost so much more, which was worth it during Covid, but not so much any more.

Delivery takes too long. Grubhub driver’s take multiple orders all at once and prioritize based on tip. Grubhub+ which anyone has Amazon Prime also has now gives a significant credit back for doing pick up. Uber offers priority delivery for a fee but I’ve had drivers still blatantly take other orders before delivering

It is quite a bit more to have your food delivered than just go to get itself.  That is even before having to tip the driver.

I would think that the pizza chains would be in a different situation because delivery was a part of their model all along (and there’s not quite as much of a premium on pizza delivery). A lot of people who would never think of getting a burger or a bucket of chicken delivered have been ordering pizza delivery for

Red Robin doesn’t really sell delivery food though, if I go there it’s because I want a burger and a giant beer and I’m actually by a Red Robin.  I’m not ordering Red Robin delivery.

Simply because most utilize 3rd party services, drivers get screwed, small businesses get screwed and in many cases customers get screwed by bad service, half eaten food or smaller servings for more money.

Now playing

Sandpaper is a mixed bag. You also have to get the angle correct otherwise it won’t cut correctly. Better to get a relatively inexpensive diamond stone. This is a video from James Wright detailing how to sharpen scissors:
