I'm surprised he's made a public statement like that, and I'm sure their attorney isn't happy he did. But, I admire that he's willing to admit the university failed Jordan McNair and isn't trying to tap dance around it.
Ding ding. It also includes a mutual release of claims so they’re basically preventing him from suing the school in the future for any number of things. I assure you it isn’t done as a gesture of goodwill to the employee.
I think the characterization of the headline and your comment are unfair. The University President is speaking on behalf of the University and taking responsibility for the University. That he acknowledges wrongdoing by University employees is hardly equivalent to saying “it was someone else’s fault.”

I don’t think it would be particularly difficult to argue that Chris Sale has been much more valuable than Diaz. He’s essentially been Diaz, except he’s been on the mound twice as much as Diaz.
I love the way the 1st baseman plays it off like it’s no big deal. “Yeah, 8/3 double play from the warning track in left center. No big deal.”
