I do hope you read this reply this morning. I never said anything about McDonald’s (that was, if I remember yesterday correctly, the commenter I was responding to). I also didn’t say I’m allergic to all food except McDonald’s. I do sincerely apologise for swearing at you; that was a little uncalled-for. But you are

I think it’s cute that you’re making assumptions about my fast food consumption, which is in fact extremely rare, because I’m extremely sensitive to a lot of foods. These sensitivities include plant-based alternatives to protein, beans, lentils, soy (and a lot of fruits and vegetables). I can keep chicken and fish

I believe very, very strongly that we should never police the way other people eat, for any reason. The only plate that should matter to a person is their own, and probably their children’s.

I can readily admit I absolutely did not turn out fine and my relationship with my parents is... strained.

I’ll just freely and—well, not happily, because I’m not happy about it, but I will definitely put this out there freely:

My maternal grandmother is 92. Her parents had 14 children. Gramma’s the youngest (and the only one still alive). Only 8 of her siblings survived childhood. All five of the siblings who didn’t survive died from childhood diseases. No accidents, no foul play. Disease. Measles. Polio. Diptheria. Two within days of each

I’m an elder millennial and I still don’t know anybody who doesn’t have some seniors in their life who couldn’t tell stories about these diseases and the havoc they wreaked in their lives, either from personal experience or from having friends or siblings contract them. I don’t know why we don’t... listen. Well. I

I can’t see twitter embeds (possibly also some instagram embeds) across Kinja (no other websites) on multiple browsers and haven’t been able to for several months now. They used to work on Opera (!!!) but that stopped eventually, too.

*looks around furtively, whispers* People are talking about this show the way I feel about all those ‘80s cartoons people have lionized and treat as if they are holy beacons that cannot be touched by the hands of new generations unless they are exactly as they were in the 80s. (so... 30-minute toy commercials with a

I don’t want to interact with the anti-vaxxers, but I have two things I wanna get of my chest, if I may:

Two writers made a silly and very funny back-and-forth twitter thread poking fun horror movie tropes and it got made into an actual movie called “You Might Be the Killer”.

All I can really think about was the backlash against the Dixie Chicks years ago. My memory may be foggy, but while they were definitely popular, I don’t think they were ever as popular as Taylor Swift. I think they really ever had one crossover hit, with... I wanna say “Landslide”? Lord, that was pretty much a

Oh, man, I’d completely forgotten about Pirates of Dark Water! I remember liking that one.

That was a really good, thoughtful reply. Just so you know. :)

I was born in ‘82. I loved original She-Ra. I had the entire series on VHS tapes that my mum carefully recorded for me. Sometime after I turned 10, but definitely before I was a teenager, I went back and rewatched She-Ra.

Thank you. That means a lot.

The first person I told about my assault was the girlfriend I had after it happened. She wasn’t particularly sympathetic, and was more concerned that I might have given her an STI. It made it a lot less likely I’d ever tell another romantic partner about it.

It works like a damn to help with that waterbending, doesn’t it?

Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile tiny shells
Drifting in the foam
Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Brave soldier boy
Comes marching home

It’s a really typical retail type thing to do, including in places you might not consider “retail” (think, say, an optometrist’s office that sells eyewear). We aren’t moving enough merch—profits are down—cut hours. The customers become angry because there’s no one to help them, and so they walk out when someone isn’t
