Mr. Again and I say that to each other on a regular basis. No puppet, no puppet, you’re the puppet. It’s a form of gallows humor, I’m convinced.

Stories like this are not only fearful, but make me paranoid—not of the prospect that Obama’s going to take America’s guns away in the next few weeks, but of my own aging mind.

Just saw this and you’ve answered my reply. Sorry for the extra notifications!

I don’t know how to get him checked when he doesn’t trust doctors

Retirment man. My parent’s neighbor, who I have known for over 20 years, retired a couple years ago. This election he deleted me off of FB even though I’m only mildly political on there (mostly just pro-woman stuff). Before he did, though, I had already hid him because of his political memes that didn’t make sense and

I’m so heartened (and yet heartsick) by your comment. My dad, a pediatric cardiologist, has recently come out of the closet as a climate change denier. He is utterly nuts at this point.
It feels good to have peers, even though its for an awful reason.

my dad is now suddenly using the “n” word, calling for the death of all “f*gs”, and positing that women are too “masculine” nowadays

yep, everything you said. I’ve learned different, amazing things about Islam, Hinduism and Chinese New year’s from my colleagues. And it’s hasn’t taken a thing away from Christmas.

Oh man, the only thing standing between my parents and a complete subscription to conspiracy theory is that their ability to navigate the interwebs is in it’s infancy and they both have little interest in expanding their usage. Something I’m ever so thankful for (partly because they don’t ask me very often for help

Last year we had a sign up in our dept for “Holiday Party.” An older couple was walking by the sign and the husband stopped and stared at it. So I jokingly say, “ hey do you want to come to our party ?” And he just sneers and growls,” I only go to CHRISTMAS parties!” So I said, “ well this party is being thrown by a

You and I are having the same sort of paternal fun! My dad is a MEDICAL DOCTOR who told me he voted for trump because third trimester abortion is murder. He voted for Obama twice even though he now claims to want republicans to dismantle the ACA. He also tried to tell me that he bets humans are a result of

I cut out my inlaws post-election and told them they no longer get to see their grandchild. My daughter is thrilled, I’m more relaxed and my wife is happy we don’t have to medicate to go visit them for Christmas. I told them I’d be monitoring their Facebook and we’d re-visit in 6 months. They basically shit a brick

Definitely time to move on then, because actions have consequences in the real world and its time your dad learned that again. And tell your siblings they are free to engage in whatever relationship with your father as they please but that your relationship with him is none of their business.

Im sorry you lost your father to a cult. Might be time to thank him for the genes and move on.

Mine too. Liberal his whole life. Worked on committees to improve community race relations issues, now thinks Trump is a genius businessman. I think the anxiety thing might be a good explanation, because I do not get how people believe these insane things. My father’s anxiety is off the charts. Always has been.

I’m switching this year to:

I firmly believe that boredom is the most destructive force on earth. My own FIL retired, according to general consensus, too early, leading him to drastically up his cigarette intake just for something to do. Dying from that did solve the boredom problem, at least. Have you tried presenting your father with some

I’ve had a couple friends relate to me how easily their elderly mothers were seduced by right wing conspiracy talk. And while Trump and co. never had a chance with my own elderly mother, she certainly was sucked into a Nancy Grace vortex at one point. Propaganda is so dangerous.

Can someone please explain to me why people believe Sandy Hook (and others) did NOT happen?? What is the point of the denial?

Maybe living in the South is starting to get to me, but I’m really starting to think women need to start arming ourselves with guns.
