That’s why the “one by one” bills are so brilliant. The Senators who don’t vote to pass them will have nowhere to hide from the “This Asshole Wants You To Starve” spotlight.

As much as it drives me barking mad that the House HAS to do the “one at a time” bills at ALL, I’m glad they are because they know the Senate will have to pass each one or risk getting the “you want your constituents out on the street!” label slapped across them. Plus, it will drive Dump into ever more frothing fits…

My belief is that this is what Trump wants. He so desperately needs a narrative that shows he is struggling against forces aligned against him and, by extension, his base. What better way than to have both democrats and republicans pull together and override his veto.

When planes start getting grounded, when military checks aren’t sent out, etc. It’s very easy to imagine a point where they’d start to defect to open the government; hell, there is already movement in this direction in the Senate.

This is his hill to die on. This is it. The Dems just have to hold the line. He cannot be allowed to take this hill.

I believe I once read a story about how Trump has suffered through the lean times in the past. After one of his bankruptcies the bank decided they had to kepp Trump around but also convince him to get his spending under control. So they gave a meager allowance of something like $200K an month to live on.
