Let me get this straight. Based on zero information about the zombie disease, which he goes into zero detail on, he says "the mathematics don't look good"? What numbers are he using for these equations?

I suggest a Space Walker.

If they were that advanced, they'd probably recognize that we were a fledgling civilization, but they may not care. Since we've never met alien life we can't imagine their biology, level of intelligence, method of communication, or motivations, and so we can't assume their course of action.

Interstellar travel may require intelligence, but it doesn't mean that they would have the same kind of morality as us. Also, they may be so different/advanced from us that they don't even consider us a form of intelligent life. It's like, if we colonized another planet and it was filled with small rodent-like

China will take over regardless, don't you worry.

Don't kid yourself. The Universe does not gain or lose significance based on your existence to observe it. We only recently even learned to observe it at all. We are entirely insignificant in the vastness of the cosmos. Even if we are the only life, or intelligent life (which is really unlikely).

Yep. I remember reading about people using them during the Great Depression, how they were such a luxury item.

what's the point of having poors if you can't look down on them?

how about you do both, thereby giving people the choice and means to decide for themselves how to improve their lives in whatever way works best for them - both if necessary.

This seems to be a larger galaxy eating a smaller one, not two of the same size colliding, so it doesn't necessarily mean they'll change shape (except probably get bigger). The Milky Way is currently eating other smaller galaxies and has eaten others in the past.

and I'm sure those will last a long time into the fucking end of civilization.

Those sneaky cetaceans.

thanks! :)

Apparently I don't play enough kickball.

Just because something is used widely doesn't mean it's correct, or good writing. I'm an ardent follow of The Elements of Style by Strunk and White (which talks about various words used incorrectly, including 'literally'), which says "they argue that any usage that achieves currency becomes valid automatically. This,

Meanings do change, but not just because Google says so, and certainly not in response to the fact that people don't know how to speak correct English. So no, we won't get over it.

I wonder if it was because of the history of Saartjie and what she represents that Vanity Fair decided to stay away from using women of colour, in the misguided notion that they would offend (and in doing so managed to make a worse offense).

actually, I did lol.
