A successful remake of a popular game that *largely* recreates the original as close to 1:1 as possible. Updated graphics, updated gameplay, maybe some tweaks here or there or shifting some levels around but most crucially does NOT alter the original story in any significant manner?

Eh, not really.  15 years is longer than most people stay at their jobs.  Not every business or project is designed to live forever.  Not a bad run in all honesty.

My heart goes out to all The Gamers(tm) that are still trapped in their own personal 9/11s that her videos placed them in for the last 15 years.

The ideas where *so incredibly* basic, 100 course level, surface-skimming concepts that the fact The Gamers(tm) reacted the way they did still dumbfounds me when I think about it. I cannot think of a single thought experiment more harmless than any concept she discussed.

Microsoft chooses what ads to run on Microsoft’s console.

Writers and editors on Kotaku do not choose what ads that get run on their front page.

C’mon guy, I *get it* but think of a better example.

Max: “A billion accessibility options”
Game: “Four rings”

Okay max, calm down. No need to flex some L33t GAmER SkiLLz.

However, the team is presently concerned that player choice in builds is dying in favor of go-to metas, meaning that if you don’t emphasize cooldown reduction, or optimize builds to send foes into Vulnerable status, you’re operating at a disadvantage”

Giving it the human name is the most insidious. When the fuckin’ Herb forced out AI on Gizmodo they at least called it Gizmodo Bot when it published it’s *wildly* factually incorrect article.

I’m curious about those people for whom this is a big deal. Like what makes an internet R34 piece suddenly “different” when it’s from someone associated with the subject in question? I guarantee there’s animated shows with similar notebooks or sticky-notes posted around in their history.

When that battle pass shows up with EXP boosters for cash, you’ll have your answers.

I had just been posting in other Diablo threads for the last few weeks that Blizzard’s entire patch/fix philosophy has revolved around slowing the player’s progress down as much as possible. Any time players discover or make a time/efficiency advantage Blizzard was there to crush it.

As someone else pointed it out, there's several "dancing Zero Two" gifs that went viral getting paired with music or being recreated in tiktok.   Most people slapping her on cars are either Giant Weebs, or just on TikTok too much and only know her from that.

For now.

And when it happens—when Acti goes the way of Bethesda and being a Microsoft only studio—the same people who were saying it will never happen are going to say “well of COURSE this was going to happen, it’s a great financial decision, why would you think it wouldn’t?”

Unfortunately, I’m not petty enough to

And because this one went through the next major buyout/acquisition will surely be okay. And the next, and the next and the next until people are literally going “look...it’s not technically a Monopoly because there’s still, uh, Bob’s Dev Garage over there! See! Competition!”

I sometimes say “pour one out for a Real One” but damn man, you were a REAL Real One. As someone who has been reading the site since the Dark Times of “Gabe Sightings”, every one of these farewell posts from those in the photo has stung, but this one especially.

Loved the writing, loved the shitposting, loved the art/c

I don’t know if you haven’t spent much time on Twitter but this is like...the normal capital ‘G’ Gamer reaction whenever a black person/queer person/woman exists within 100 yards of their video games/movies.

Gotcha!   This is more acceptable!

All those nominations seem fine to me, though my only complaint would be “Outstanding Directing”. Should give that to the director of the game since a large part of the show is a shot-by-shot 1:1 recreation.

1000% this.  Blizzard's 'Fun Senses' are tingling.

Determine your own level of investment’ is at odds with the fact that Blizzard has repeatedly turned off the faucet on people when players determined what activities were most efficient for said investment. Be it most efficient leveling spot, legendary farm, or targetted drop farming, when people invest in
