I would think if a folktale centers around a certain pivotal moment, all the more reason to critique and question it. I mean, in older versions of the story, it’s strongly implied the Prince had sex with Snow White’s corpse. Why is it not important to adhere to that version then? 

It's pretty rich, arguing for blind acceptance of folktales as stories that just work! Like Little Mermaid hasn't been critiqued for its presentation of Ariel's fate, or like Zeus isn't famous for being a rapist.
