I don’t think that car is retro to the 80s at all.

That car does not hit the retro buttons needed, which is one of the reasons it failed.  It needs Celica name and Celica styling to work.

Ford sure sells a lot of Mustangs.  A fun car for a broader market has a place.

Or even 70s

I refuse to accept a Celica that is not RWD. This is my fantasy, so let me have it.

This car is going to be the most disappointing reveal ever. I would much rather have them bring back the Celica as a sports car for the people - a Mustang competitor that it originally was. RWD, retro styling, maybe throw some louvers on it, keep the price low so people can actually buy it.

If they did not report the accident to Cal/OSHA within 8 hours, the consequences could be criminal.
