This. I remember hearing that at IBM in the early 80s it would cost them something like $2000 to ship an empty box with the corporate structure in place. This was one of the main reasons that the PC division was kept separate and used mostly off-the-shelf components instead of keeping it completely in-house like they

Fitting was the problem. Friend bought one new in 1974. I was young and supple. Getting into/out of the driver seat was difficult (now with a removable steering wheel ...). Eye level was at the center of an 18 wheeler’s - well - wheels.

Jason, I usually like the stuff you write and it’s mostly smart and funny. But lose the profanity. It doesn’t add a single bit of humor, and it’s no longer shocking or edgy. It’s just a crutch for inadequate writing. You’re much better than that.

Reminds me of the old joke about how Rolls Royce never published power numbers, preferring instead to state simply that it was ‘adequate’.

I would totally drive a car called the Adequate. I have no idea why

If you lived in Oakland, it would still be a coin toss whether or not you could make it home without breaking down.

This is the ugliest vehicle I’ve seen all day. And I read that CT5 preview.

I don’t have this problem with cars, but musical equipment...oof. Over the course of my adult life, I found a few ways to get around some of it. The first was working in a mostly vintage-and-used guitar/hi-fi store in my early adulthood that had a small demo studio. I got stuff at cost, sometimes for free, always had

Mine was a smaller local bank, and they had it on site.

it is, its how it starts to change when you have a kid

Maybe I’m not a true Jalop, but I think it is the little things I do that allow me to get money for cars, or in my case, usually bikes.

That, plus if someone is so cash-strapped that a couple grand is make-or-break, I’m just not confident that maintenance and/or repairs weren’t deferred or botched on an expensive to own vehicle.

Mid-2000 running change to clear turn signal covers.  Still used yellow bulbs.

Stop talking up these cars! They are the last affordable 911s, and prices are already rising.

Counterpoint - it’s the ugliest 911 ever made.

Sucker’s bet - you know he had to wait.

How much you want to bet they still made him wait for his boarding group number to be called before he could get on the plane?

May wanna re-read the article.

I.D. pend heavily on dad jokes myself, so I’ll give them some leeway.

Unfortunately, my Dad actually is cool. I wish my kids could say the same.
