That reminds me that I forgot to submit my “What car should I buy” request for April Fools Day. I figured there’s no way I could get jalopnik to take it seriously unless it was april fools, but then maybe they’d answer it and then say “KIDS DON”T DO THIS AT HOME”

in short, it was going to be: “My wife facebooks, texts,

Funny. Thats exactly what my employer did. 18 months without a scheduled hour despite consistently repetitive “required” training sessions. I finally said I wasn’t going to keep working for nothing. Shady.

Nope... just facebook and craigslist. had it listed for about 3 months.... but its gone now so life is good.

Loved that car, really was good for what it was!

I wanted to CP this... I really did. Why would anyone want this car? I don’t know.

then I did research on it, and found that worse examples are listed higher. It seems pretty clear that what you see here IS worth it to someone... I just don’t know who that someone is... sure as heck isn’t me.

For 10k, I’m not buying...

the CTS with a stick is AWESOME. While the first gen had a stick on the base version, the 2nd gen only had it on the sport version.

seriously, it came with the “Summer Tire Performance Package” which is the DUMBEST name for a sport package ever. Most people just think it means it came with cool tires, and didn’t know

Thats how I felt selling my Porsche Cayenne manual. I saw it as a “benefit” everyone else asked for a discount because it didn’t have an auto. Finally sold it to a lowballer who test drove it, complained about how luxury cars shouldn’t have sticks, and finally emailed me a month later and said, “Since you haven’t been

Its funny really.

Take an italian exotic. Are you going to drive it to the grocery store? no. To work? no. to the airport? no. In the rain? no. In the snow? no. OK, so of the 20 remaining weekends, say you go out and enjoy a drive or hit a few car gatherings. If you have one “nice car”, that could be 2000 miles a year,

Well stated!

Most collectors I know have a mechanic work on them regularly, maintain fluids, seals, rotate wheels. Some start the engines up, others don’t... its like a crazy underworld... jump on some of the forums sometimes and read the debates about it.

Good thing you don’t have to!

But wouldn’t it be funny if we were friends and you didn’t know? the irony of life.

Is “Because I can” an OK response not intended to be taken as a rude statement?

haha- Yeah I chuckle about that sometimes. “Oh i love driving that car”... Then all of a sudden I realize I’ve put 300 miles on it in 4 years.

Somewhat tongue in cheek. You can collect whatever you want. I was more parodying what the OP said when he said collecting cars doesn’t make sense but coins are an “investment product”.

My argument was that Coins are tools, like cars, and their purpose was never intended to be “investment products”. They are a means of

I’m not the best car collector, but I slowly age and become more of that stereotypical type that gets hate mail. I don’t have any under covers because I want to be able to see them. I also am more of the Jalopnik, go out there and drive the dang thing type... but that may be just 100-150 miles a year... but I can

really? That seems crazy!

I love green cars but too many have brown interiors. I have so much trouble finding green 911s and whatnot with BLACK interiors instead of brown/tan....

But coins are meant to be USED. They are a means of trade, a tool... not something to collect.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND COIN COLLECTING.

1. Collector car insurance is cheap. I pay only a few hundred dollars per car, including italian exotics... especially if you don’t drive them or put mileage caps on them.
2. If you have more than a handful, you normally don’t even insure individual cars, you insure the entire collection. This is even cheaper... think

I disagree with you.

I would have agreed with you when I was younger, but now that I’ve become a car collector, I understand the value in it.

You see cars are meant to be driven... and most car collectors also have cars they DRIVE. But once you have your cars to drive and enjoy, there’s something about taking snapshots
