I thought most the reliability problems were from idiot owners who treated them like piston engines... As long as you run them near redline and provide sufficient oil, aren’t they pretty darn bulletproof?

I’m always torn.
Should we pass laws banning poor people from getting credit? We have this idea of an “accredited Investor” to do risky investments, maybe we have a lower tier for “loans” where anyone with negative net worth can’t get a loan legally?
Its hard to create rules and laws that protect dumb people from…
I have a hard time feeling sympathy for someone who bought a $16,000 blazer in ‘91.
Thats average new vehicle price territory, not “I’m broke get me something I can drive territory”.
I have even a harder time having sympathy for someone who bought a corvette with a $28k loan in the 90s. Seriously, no one needs to do…
It was fine for 2 car seats... but its really too tight for 3 ;)
We owned it for many years though and loved it. It was actually really reliable and a blast to drive. However, we decided to buy something bigger for our growing family especially since this is our vacationmobile, and the vehicle we use to haul our camper…
it’ll be interesting to watch. What I wonder is if that will ever *really* be necessary.
For example:
-Wireless charging. If this ever takes off you could charge while you drive
-Ultra Long Range. Imagine you could get 1200 mile range out of your batteries. Would you ever need to charge?
-Replaceable electrolyte. This is…
My wife was the same way!
Sold ours last weekend :( So sad. We loved that car.
Are you thinking third gen? 2nd gen (956 to 957) look almost the same but have entirely improved drivetrains.... besides the front fascia, the 1st and 2nd gen look almost the same?
You want a 2nd gen (2008+). Pre-2008s had too many problems and thats why they are so cheap.
Wow thats expensive as heck.
I sold mine last week for half of that amount, same year, WITH a manual although it had more miles. I had it on the market for 4 months, no accidents, no problems, fully maintained with receipts
They are rare, and AWESOME cars... but that price is CP. I’d say 20 is closer to fair game, as it…
This is the least MEH of any Meh car monday.
The awesome mirrors above the wheel... that Dashboard is pretty epic... and the two gear transmission?
This is one of those cars I wish I knew about. I’m thoroughly intrigued now and doing a bunch of research on them because they seem pretty awesome.
And Every time I hear someone from Australia I have to be that annoying guy and say that I used to live there in a place called Langwarrin, outside of Melbourne :) Its been a while since I’ve been back there, maybe I’m due for a trip!
I think car subscriptions are the future.
Cars are getting so expensive, its becoming the only way to afford a new car... its like the next evolution of leasing.
I don’t get cell phone coverage in the suburbs in Ohio... so I certainly wouldn’t expect to have cell phone coverage in the middle of nowhere in an offroading trail....
Its funny, but I worked in the horse industry, and our company wanted to make an app. I told them it was futile because so many horse owners don’t have…
I would buy stefcoins as long as the dumb stuff you buy is something we get to witness and enjoy too.
Want to buy a Reliant Robin and drive it around a track? I will buy Stefcoin.
Want to buy and elio coin and keep us up to date of the experience? I will buy a stefcoin.
Want to buy four geo metros and start the Jalopnik…
Very very interesting. I was not aware about that with Hyundai, but I appreciate the detailed explanation and link!
can you elaborate on the hyundai exception?
No one is going to be able to race the Bimmer competitively...
Someone help me understand this:
The Lotus 400 uses a toyota Motor for reliability, and is competing directly with this toyota which uses a BMW motor, which the warranty department appears to lack confidence in as far as reliability is concerned.
I can’t be the only one that is thoroughly confused by this conundrum?
To…
If it was on the east coast I’d buy it.
And because of that, I’ve got to NP it.
How do you not NP a car you’d buy?
Sure its more expensive than a miata... but I wouldn’t buy a miata... everyone has miatas.... and it can’t be much more expensive than any other lotus to maintain.... this looks good enough that it could be…
As a tall guy, I wanted to point out that oddly the accord was not a comfortable fit for me.
